Full credit here to Harry S Deals - I saw him post this in another thread and his comment got a little buried. Harry pointed out that Geekie's contract was up after this year and could be a potential 2C candidate - when I saw he had over 30 goals this past season, I got pretty intrigued.
Does anyone know if he's a true center? I see on some sites that Kyrou is listed as a C, so I'm hesitant to believe it. He's an RFA, so it would be an offer sheet to get him, but (having never seen him play, just looking at his numbers) he's 26, produces offense, and sure seems like he could be the answer at 2C.
The Bruins look like they may be in for a full rebuild so one of the higher end offer sheet compensation packages may actually interest them.

Don't have the draft picks to OS him. They'd have to trade for himEmma bleeds blue wrote: ↑08 May 2025 15:54 pm Full credit here to Harry S Deals - I saw him post this in another thread and his comment got a little buried. Believe Geekie was playing LW with Lindholm and Pastrnak. Shoots R.

Re: Morgan Geekie
Well I was figuring with him putting up over 30 goals last season, and his age, he may command a salary that requires the 4 first round pick compensation - which the Blues could do. Doesn't seem like the Blues would do that, but . . .moose-and-squirrel wrote: ↑08 May 2025 16:01 pmDon't have the draft picks to OS him. Re: Morgan Geekie
Geekie is capable of playing center(600+ faceoffs 3 years in a row until this year).
But you have to understand that he comes with some warts as a player.
He's not particularly good at faceoffs. Leaves more than a little to be desired on defense. He doesn't play an overly physical game despite having great size. Is only average as a skater. And doesn't have any real standout offensive skills(similar to Saad in terms of offensive skills; average skills across the board but nothing that really stands out).
IMO he's a lot like Max Domi. If you focus on his negatives, you'll be pulling your hair out in short order.
If you are able to look past the negatives and focus on his positives, he's an offensive oriented middle 6 forward who provides pretty solid depth.
For what we need; I don't think he's a particularly good fit, but it would be better than running Sunny out as a top 9 forward for another year. Still, I think I'd rather shoot for a bigger fish.

Re: Morgan Geekie
Appreciate the scouting report - thank you! As much as I like Sunny, I agree with you - he should really be on the 4th line. As others have said in different posts, the Blues 3rd line has Bolduc and that's about it. Would really like to see Dvorsky (if he's ready, ofc) on the 3rd line to add some more scoring punch.kimzey59 wrote: ↑08 May 2025 16:14 pm Geekie is capable of playing center(600+ faceoffs 3 years in a row until this year).

Buchnevich - Snuggerud
Holloway - Kyrou
Neighbours - Bolduc
Toropchenko - Walker
Joseph, Texier in reserve
That's a full stable with a couple of prospects potentially knocking on the door.
Re: Morgan Geekie
Really seems like a less than ideal fit for either team IMO.
