Will Monty Make Changes In Staff?

Post by Red7 »

Every coach has “their” guy. Does Monty have someone for Julien’s role, perhaps? Nothing against Julien, but he was pretty much brought in to tutor Bannister, and Monty obviously doesn’t need that. So, if Monty did want to bring someone in, that would appear to be the move.

I'll be very curious if Julien returns.

Time for Ott to go. he has been a asst coach eight years, never a interview for a head coaching job. He is what he is, JAG, time for new face.

Yeah I was half expecting him to go with Bannister. Serving as an Assistant for a rookie who could use an experienced guy at his side is one thing. Wasn't sure he'd want to continue doing that for Monty.

But seemed to turn out ok and I hope he'll continue!

If he makes changes, thats fine by me. If he doesn't, that is also fine.

the coaches are what they are, they aren't going to reinvent the wheel, they'll help preach the scheme and the tactics, the players will choose to buy in or not, and off we go. If the players don't buy in to a specific element of the game, you make a move. To me, the only thing we are awful at is 6 on 5, we are marginal at the PK. I guess if the same coach is mostly involved in both of those, thats the guy that goes.

I don't like the fit with Julien.
Julien has always been an even strength guy.
The Blues need a strong PK guru(or somebody to fix 6 on 5).

No ill will towards Julien and I wish him the best going forward, I just think we need a different mindset than what he brings.

We need somebody to fix the PK that's for sure. Bottom 5 in the league won't cut it.

The question is whether the players are listening or not. Monty doesn't HAVE to make changes. If the players are listening and the coaches are working in Montys system then nothing needs to change. Consistency is coaching is one of the biggest drivers to success on teams. You get the dead cat bounce with new coaches, but to have real success is continuity in staff.

That being said Monty might have someone he knows is his tag team buddy. But he was already lock stock and barrel with Army and Army likes these guys, so I assume Monty kind of has an affinity for some of the guys. Julien was credited with opening up Bolducs game offensively BTW. Monty said Bolduc popped off because of Juliens work with him.
