No Gorman vs a RHP? Kind of surprised Walker in there instead.
Gray has a 5.09 ERA in day games this year, but he had a 2.43 ERA in day games last year and 1.80 ERA the year before. Hope he’s more like last 2 years than this year today.
That’s a huge stat. Day games. Did his day game starts come on the road?
3 home/1 road
5 IP 4 H 2 R vs MIN Opening day
6 IP 5 H 5 R vs LAA
6 IP 6 H 3 R @ NYM
6 IP 7 H 3 R vs MIL

Walker needs to stay on the ball and drive it to right center. Hes out of sorts like Contreras was last month.

Maybe it's his eyes. He looks scared at the plate.

I think we have a winning record on this upcoming road trip.
Good news is we are projected to miss Wheeler in the Phillies series.

Yes. He's still extremely young. I'm hoping one day it just clicks! Look at the turnaround Libby has made at age 25. Still hope...

Ok skewed by the Angels start. Two good starts against Mets and Brewers. Also more recent.
I say he has a good day, not great, because that issue of avoiding a sweep is deeply engrained in the pirates mind.

That is good news but Phils always tough in Philly.
Royals are playing well, need to make hay vs the Nats.

Walker 2/6 .333 vs Keller
Norman does have 2 HR's off him but hitting .235 in 17 AB's

Interesting stat. That’s two players who have barreled his pitches. Tells me either- he has or loses movement on some pitches, or a location problem.
Either way, means, he can be hit.

Yes. He's still extremely young. I'm hoping one day it just clicks! Look at the turnaround Libby has made at age 25. Still hope...
Ones a pitcher and ones a hitter. What's the toughest thing to do in sports? Hot a baseball. Also, LH pitchers progress slower

What’s the toughest thing in sports- score a hockey goal. And hitting a baseball.

Agree...but...I remember the Cards giving up too soon on Jose Cruz & Andy Van Slyke...they eventually matured into star players.

Golf is the hardest sport. As Sam Snead once told Ted Williams...golfers have to play their foul balls!

Gorman and Walker haven't started a game together since April 30th... kinda odd in a season when both of them are allegedly being given "runway" to see what they can do.
As far as today seems pretty easy to just give Noot or Donovan a day off if you want to get both Gorman and Walker in.

Andy van Slyke seemed to do well here for several years before Pittsburgh. I don’t recall why we traded him, but I’m betting contract was in play.
Yes forgot golf. Maybe the toughest. Tennis??
