If that trade happens, who are the Blues' 1RHD, 2RHD, 3RHD?Bacchk29 wrote: ↑06 May 2025 20:31 pmEither way his value is the highest and you have to give to get. Z is a former 90 pt scorer and a huge need behind Thomas. You’ll survive without St. Colton good lord!sneptsmoustache wrote: ↑06 May 2025 20:09 pm I thought that whole "Parayko is a #3" was just kind of a dumb semantic argument he was making. Like...what does that even really mean?
Love the guy as a defenseman, but I think he fancies his own opinion a little too much and seems to be too focused on building up his personal brand. He's super active on Twitter, I actually really enjoy his hockey tweets but clearly he's trying to convey this persona as entrepreneur/business coach/motivational speaker etc. It kind of bums me out tbh, he's one of my favorite players ever and has nothing to prove to anyone, but now he's coming across as kind of a try-hard.
Anyways, I'm probably just being a cynical a-hole. However...Parayko is NOT a #3 defenseman.

That a brutal trade idea for the Blues!! Not only does he make 8.5M...he is on the decline at age 32. I would block devo for several years cause your not paying Miko 8.5 M as a 3C

With threads on this, getting Bouchard, getting Frederic, plus everything the green grass doofus posts...I'm more glad than ever that Blues Talk isn't actually making real decisions. Just awful ideas coming out of here lately.Tony Palazzolo wrote: ↑07 May 2025 07:45 am I remember a time on this board that we wanted to trade our bad players for other teams good players. Re: Parayko for Zibanejad
So, in other words bring back basically the same team and do nothing with the forward group which needs an upgrade and hope your youth are ready in the fall. OK. Parayko just isn’t as good as most people on here make him out to be.sdaltons wrote: ↑07 May 2025 08:29 amWith threads on this, getting Bouchard, getting Frederic, plus everything the green grass doofus posts...I'm more glad than ever that Blues Talk isn't actually making real decisions. No, I'm completely fine with some change. Hoping for it, in fact. Just not going to be on board with change for the sake of change.Bacchk29 wrote: ↑07 May 2025 08:45 amSo, in other words bring back basically the same team and do nothing with the forward group which needs an upgrade and hope your youth are ready in the fall. And as someone who isn't a Parayko hater, like yourself, I understand his importance to the team. Sure, I'd move him. I don't really consider anyone untouchable. But it would take an absolute haul. It would need to be something that would set us up for years. And since that offer is unlikely to come along, we simply don't move him.
Congrats on posting a trade proposal that people are unanimously against. Most of the time these threads include at least a couple people that are willing to consider it. Not this time!

Re: Parayko for Zibanejad
so you think it's a good idea to trade a stud 1RHD for a waning 2C that is 32 and is owed 8.5m for the next five yrs?Bacchk29 wrote: ↑07 May 2025 08:45 amSo, in other words bring back basically the same team and do nothing with the forward group which needs an upgrade and hope your youth are ready in the fall. Beat me to it. I don't think anybody is against improvements in the forward ranks (and Army even mentioned in the press conference adding a 200 ft. forward), but the keyword is "improvement", or net improvement. Trading away your best defensemen, with no replacement in house, for a 32 year old center who is going downhill fast and owed $2M more than the player you are trading makes zero sense. It weakens the team because this poster wants to see change for the sake of change, and apparently really dislikes Parayko for some reason.
Zibanejad is exiting (has exited) his prime and entering (has already started) his decline phase . . .
Zibanejad's points by year:
Age 28 - 29 G, 52 A, 81 P, +30
Age 29 - 39 G, 52 A, 91 P, +25
Age 30 - 26 G, 46 A, 72 P, +15
Age 31 - 20 G, 42 A, 62 P, -22
He turned 32 years old a few weeks ago. His scoring metrics all peaked two years ago at age 29, which makes perfect sense, and has declined from there. Why would you expect this trend to stop or reverse course? His top skating speed was in the 91st-92nd percentile range in his age 28 and 29 seasons. Since turning 30 his top speed ranks in the 62nd and 63rd percentile, though he still ranks high in speed bursts over 20 mph, but dropped from the 94th percentile at age 30 to the 85th percentile at age 31.

Not a chance. Rangers would jump on that in a heartbeat.

Dude, you started a thread that makes the argument of trading the best defensive defenseman in the NHL (Pronger's words) that only has a $6.5 million CAP hit to bring in a 2C. BUT, you have yet to address the massive hole that creates in our defensive core...Bacchk29 wrote: ↑07 May 2025 08:45 amSo, in other words bring back basically the same team and do nothing with the forward group which needs an upgrade and hope your youth are ready in the fall. So, let's flip your above comment... In other words, basically bring back a different team by blowing up our defensive core and upgrade the forward ranks with a 2c and hope your youth are ready in the fall.
Re: Parayko for Zibanejad
Parayko is special. Hes a huge man. Cant find that easily. Mika is on the tail end of his career. We can find a guy and not trade a fan favorite.
If he was traded--id like 25 year old center. not Mika.

Re: Parayko for Zibanejad
More than enough people have shared great reasons why this is a VERY bad idea for the Blues.
I would like to give one reason trading Zibanejad is a challenge for the Rangers. NY is trading the history of who Zibanejad was to them. No one trades for that unless their team is in a rebuild and needs a player with a name. You don't buy a players history by paying with another players future. That is just dumb. Zibanejad is stuck, or a losing trade for NY.
I would like to see us get K'Andre Miller.
