The OP in this thread is very valuable. When you think subjects can't get any more ridiculous , please refer to this one. There's always one out there just waiting to outdo the last one!

This is like a blueprint for how a young ballplayer could sabotage his own career. Brilliant!Lloyd Braun wrote: ↑06 May 2025 13:24 pmFirst, you do it privately. Force them to at least address it with you. Maybe they listen.Monsieur De Treville wrote: ↑06 May 2025 13:08 pmAnd what exactly are you & Mr McGreevy going to use for leverage? I mean, I could probably demand sex from Sydney Sweeney, but I'm not sure that would do me any good.Lloyd Braun wrote: ↑06 May 2025 12:59 pm There is nothing more this dude can do. All he has done is throw strikes, gets outs, not give up runs and get wins.
You would think a 25 year old (in 50 days) that has done everything he can in the minor leagues and been an A+ at the big leagues, would be given a permanent opportunity for a franchise claiming to be rebuilding and developing.
Called up. Throws shut out ball, gets the win. Demoted immediately. What kind of message does that send throughout the organization that performance means nothing to the Cardinals?
If he was 21, different story. But at 25... the Cardinals appear completely ready to jerk him around his entire professional career and prevent him from ever getting a fair competition, or getting a chance to earn real baseball money.
Demand a trade. I certainly would. Seriously, even pitching in Colorado would help him more than being in this organization.
If nothing changes, he could ask the union to step in on his behalf and make accusations about the Cardinals manipulating his service time. They've done that before.
He and his agent could go public about it, making it a PR nightmare for the Cardinals. Warn prospects that if drafted by STL, they should consider not signing with the Cardinals and go back in the draft.
The Cardinals under DeWitt today aren't a baseball team, they are a sales and marketing firm with a baseball operation on the side. Public Relations mean everything to them. Make them uncomfortable.
Starting Pitching is the most valuable commodity in the industry. So there would be no shortage of teams that would die for him in their rotation right now. We appear to be the only organization that doesn't want it.

His success has been greater in his limited MLB exposure thanLloyd Braun wrote: ↑06 May 2025 13:40 pmThe fact the Cardinals don't consider there to be openings right now is a problem in itself. They are proving they don't follow common sense, so trying to assume they will make the common sense move in the near future has proven to be an unreliable instrument.renostl wrote: ↑06 May 2025 13:34 pmWhy when you are in a perfect position compared to just 1 year ago?Lloyd Braun wrote: ↑06 May 2025 12:59 pm There is nothing more this dude can do. The team wants to shed pay, at least 3 openings are coming not counting any injuries.
He's already been ready for a full year, so any delay at this point is asset malpractice.
what he was doing up to that point in MiLB. That is great. I'm for it. MLB means more.
To suggest he was in a better position 12 months ago though I don't agree with.
He'll get an opportunity soon. To give it today you have to cut or trade Miles, Gray, Fedde or send one of one of
Pallante, Libs, down. or have a bit of patience and know he'll be up if he continues his production.
This happens all the time with prospects and far worse for position players.
Asking for a trade to CO isn't a wise choice. Where we can point to the organizations past mistakes, we can also see an improvement
at least IMO. In the past with all the Cards bullpen questions McGreevy, Libs, or AP would be used there. That IMO,
better fits your "asset malpractice" and more unfair to the player. He's being treated better this way, again my opinion.

He'll be in the rotation soon enough and by the time he's been around the league a second or third time you'll wonder why you were making such a fuss.

Is this the list of stupid things a player could do to make life suck? The Cardinals are doing nothing wrong with McGreevy. He will be a full time starter next year if healthy.Lloyd Braun wrote: ↑06 May 2025 13:24 pmFirst, you do it privately. Force them to at least address it with you. Re: McGreevey should ask for a trade
He’s not even a lights out minor league pitcher. Let’s know anoint him our next ace just yet. He should be in the rotation before the year is up and he will be if he keeps getting results. Need to try to build any trade value you can with Mikolas, Matz, Fedde first.

Re: McGreevey should ask for a trade
Bulldog is 100% correct. On BDW teams, the contract plays. McGreevy knows the score. On August 1, he will be in the Cards starting rotation. Mikolas, Fedde and Matz will be gone. There is no rush. Nothing on fire. No one is bleeding. Sorry, but no headline here.sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑06 May 2025 13:46 pmTrue. But again in business, money money money money. Contracts play. And good, as these contracts are holding there own, as well as value, for the deadline sell. Then comes the kids.Lloyd Braun wrote: ↑06 May 2025 13:40 pmThe fact the Cardinals don't consider there to be openings right now is a problem in itself. Whatever they do, they need to manage him to a somewhat high innings pitched total so he is still building as a starter.

Hey Lloyd
If McGreevey is that frustrated, he should try the “Serenity Now” chant.

Some posters will say hes another overhyped prospect the second he has a bad outing. Who can forget after liebrertore start when people were pounding the drums saying the cardinals are stupid and he is not a starter11WSChamps wrote: ↑06 May 2025 14:47 pm He'll be in the rotation soon enough and by the time he's been around the league a second or third time you'll wonder why you were making such a fuss.
Re: McGreevey should ask for a trade
they need bullpen innings -- i love what they are doing with MM and GG or at least how it has worked out here recently. You get 5 innings and then get the heck out of here so the marmot isn't inclined to use them 2-3 days later. this usage helps the bullpen and saves them from needing arm replacement by august. Their time is coming sooner than later, there will be at least 3 spots open next year.

LMAO
I’m PRETTY SURE the Cards have NEVER spoken to McGreevy about their plans for him.
Mikolas- FA
Matz- FA
Fedde- FA
Gray- signed for one more year and is up in age.
Pallante- could be solid back end of rotation arm or return to BP.
Libby- looks like he may have arrived but who knows. It’s not as if he’s Koufax!
Yes....I think McGreevy should take hostages!
The OP is a joke!

What’s the rush?
I’m psyched they are pitching well.
Their time is coming.
Cards rotation after the break and certainly ST 2026 should look a lot different.

Where in his minor league numbers would anyone get that impression?
