I think something great was wrapped inside.
During Game 7 one player really stood out to me, Toropchenko... He was flying and getting to the puck and making moves around the defense. I know he didn't score but I think he grew during this series and I'm excited to see if he can crack 20+ goals next year.
I know Game 7 was a horrible loss but...

Sure hope so. Not sure how much you watched in 23-24 but down the stretch when the Blues had a great finish that fell just shy of the playoffs, Torop was undoutedly one of the reasons why, posting career highs in points and goals. I thought he'd take that step forward this season but hopefully all the coaching and personnel changes are what slowed his season.BlueGhost wrote: ↑06 May 2025 13:19 pm I think something great was wrapped inside.

Because when he's on, he easily has 3rd line potential and I daresay, when playing his best, top 6 potential because of his size, speed, and finishing ability. Plus he only turns 26 this summer. I don't think he's reached anywhere near what he's capable of.

I think he looked a lot better towards the end of the season, and he will likely have a few seasons of double digit goals and points, but if he ever gets to 20 I'll be shocked. He might have a few years of flirting with 20 but I'm not sure he gets there as he won't have the ice time.BlueGhost wrote: ↑06 May 2025 13:19 pm I think something great was wrapped inside.

Love Torpo but he just doesn’t have the hands to score 20.
Here’s his stats going back all the way to age 14. Even in Jrs he never scored 20 goals in a season:

He’s in the NHL because he’s big, is fast, plays hard, hits and drives the net hard. But there’s a couple thousand players in the world more talented than him in the actual skills of hockey (passing, shooting, stick handling etc). Love him for what he is but I’ll be shocked if he ever eclipses 20 goals in the NHL.

He doesn't have to. I know I never felt we were going to lose when their line was on the ice in the double OT.STL fan in MN wrote: ↑06 May 2025 14:25 pm Love Torpo but he just doesn’t have the hands to score 20.
