Re: Faska
To me, it comes down to what Faksa commands on the market. I don’t see a guy that should get more than $2M/year. If someone else wants to offer him way more than I’d go pursue someone else. There’s all sorts of guys capable of playing 4C well. I like Faksa but let’s be honest, it’s not that hard to replace 15 points and someone that works hard and is physical.

Faksa is great. Does a lot of little things very well, and is the right sort of responsible vet for our young players to learn from without having to take a ton of ice time away. He's worth signing for another year IMO if he wants to come back.

$2.5 seems fair. I took it as $5 AAV.MiamiLaw wrote: ↑06 May 2025 10:53 amI thought he meant $5 total on multiple year deal. I do hope they keep him though, he's one of those keys you need in the playoffs.smilinjoefission wrote: ↑06 May 2025 08:39 am Can't afford him...he'll command in the $5mill range and some term after his playoffs

No we weren't.skilles wrote: ↑06 May 2025 10:25 amWe weren't trying to win a cup this year.a smell of green grass wrote: ↑06 May 2025 10:11 am Faksa was good in Dallas as well.
However, Dallas is so deep at C, and so youthful, they could lose him without even 1 pillow turn.
Some credit Army for finding Faksa.
I blame Army for not finding C's like Dallas does. You will never win a Cup by utilizing the C's that were culled easily from strong teams.
So what is your guess on how long it will take for our roster to move to the future (like Dallas)....?
Current:
Can't live without Faksa
Future:
Can happily release Faksa, because there are so many young guys that have demonstrated that they are better

Face off ability is the big factor IMO but I agree with not going over 2 and was personally thinking slightly lower.STL fan in MN wrote: ↑06 May 2025 10:58 am To me, it comes down to what Faksa commands on the market. Oh I think we start thinking the window is open right now. and I don't think Faksa really has anything to do with the young guys as I don't care how we get a good 4th line center or how old they are as long as we have one. Not a position you really worry about developing IMO.a smell of green grass wrote: ↑06 May 2025 15:00 pmNo we weren't.skilles wrote: ↑06 May 2025 10:25 amWe weren't trying to win a cup this year.a smell of green grass wrote: ↑06 May 2025 10:11 am Faksa was good in Dallas as well.

It's hard for me to imagine that our Centers are better than what Dallas has because Faksa was their throwout.
While you are happy to "just have one", I want "one that is better than what the other guys have". That's the difference inside our helmets.

There is a salary cap that has to be managed, teams have to move players they would rather not all the time.a smell of green grass wrote: ↑06 May 2025 15:53 pmMeanwhile, in Dallas...skilles wrote: ↑06 May 2025 15:41 pmOh I think we start thinking the window is open right now. and I don't think Faksa really has anything to do with the young guys as I don't care how we get a good 4th line center or how old they are as long as we have one. You’ve got it down pat.STL fan in MN wrote: ↑06 May 2025 08:45 amHe scored 15 points this season. He’ll be lucky to get $2M.smilinjoefission wrote: ↑06 May 2025 08:39 am Can't afford him...he'll command in the $5mill range and some term after his playoffs
That said, I’d like to have the guy back. But he’s not worth the $3.25M we paid him this season. Which is why Dallas gave him to us for free. Good 4C but he was overpaid for what he brings these days. Hopefully Army and Faksa can come to an agreement on a fair deal.
Dvorsky makes absolutely no sense as the 4C. That’s not his strength or role. Stenberg is a winger so…he’d make even less sense.

Re: Faska
Faksa is a good player to have, but he's going to have to back on the Blues's terms. Army shouldn't and won't bend over to keep a player like that salary and term wise.
Dylan Peterson is a good bet to take over as 4C.

Re: Faska
I really value FO% as well, especially on a 4th line. I could see Army going up to $2.5 and it depends on the term.skilles wrote: ↑06 May 2025 15:38 pmFace off ability is the big factor IMO but I agree with not going over 2 and was personally thinking slightly lower.STL fan in MN wrote: ↑06 May 2025 10:58 am To me, it comes down to what Faksa commands on the market.
