Lars The Human Sushi-baar has18 RBI in 158 PA's (that is 1 in every 8.8 PA's).scoutyjones2 wrote: ↑05 May 2025 21:53 pmLiar. He's got 18 RBIs. One less than the team leader. Leads the team in runs.
You really are incredibly stoopid.

That is actually a LOWER rate than Contreras (8.6) who started the year in a terrible slump.
And lower than Scott (7.9).
And Pages (1 in every 6.8 PA's).
And Donovan (7.5).
And Saggese (6.3).
And even lower than Gorman (8.11).
Mootbaar is one of the worst Cardinals at driving in runs.
FACT is, Web7 makes a very solid point supported by data.
And that has been the case every season with Mootbaar.
He is too passive, too often.
Much like Carpenter in the last several years of his career.
Re: Noot with yet another strike 3 looking with runners on base
Might be more meaningful RBI: RISP. He does lead off so that insures one PA with no RBI chance.Melville wrote: ↑05 May 2025 22:22 pmLars The Human Sushi-baar has18 RBI in 158 PA's (that is 1 in every 8.8 PA's).scoutyjones2 wrote: ↑05 May 2025 21:53 pmLiar. He has 5 HR - those are RBI even from the leadoff spot.
Further, Mootbaar is now in his 5th season and has never been proficient at RBI production.
For example, he has an anemic 11 RBI in 126 PA's hitting 3rd - which is terrible.
He has 222 PA's hitting 6th and just 17 RBI - again, awful.
Bottom line, like Carpenter, an extremely passive batter.
Good at drawing walks, bad at driving in runs.
Not a criticism, per se.
Just reality.

Re: Noot with yet another strike 3 looking with runners on base
Noot's tendency to walk is based on a very keen eye. Often he strikes out on a pitch outside of the zone; a result of an umpire miscall.
I agree with those who suggest he isn't a great MOTO because he's clearly programmed to walk.
Noot would score more runs if we had a good set of MOTOBs.

As I have said many times, Mootbaar 9, Scott 1, and Winn 2 is the best lineup option.hugeCardfan wrote: ↑05 May 2025 22:45 pm Noot's tendency to walk is based on a very keen eye. Often he strikes out on a pitch outside of the zone; a result of an umpire miscall.

Justmt another misstep by Smell illegal.
Tiring how wrong you are. Noots a pretty optimal leadoff hitter as long as he stays healthy.
Facts are he's raking and it makes you nauseous to be woefully wrong, once again.
Go back and read [censored] 7's statement...

Only 2 teams in baseball have more RBI than the Cardinals from the leadoff spot thanks to Nootbaar.Melville wrote: ↑05 May 2025 22:38 pmIncorrect.Jatalk wrote: ↑05 May 2025 22:26 pmMight be more meaningful RBI: RISP. Re: Noot with yet another strike 3 looking with runners on base
Nootbar has all of four walks with men on base.
The Cards lead off spot ranks third among all lead off hitters in RBIs. They have the fifth highest runs scored.
What should numbers be?
Wilful ignorance just to get attention is an artform on this forum.
Re: Noot with yet another strike 3 looking with runners on base
Just think how many more he could have if he actually swung the bat….if he wasn’t always looking for the almighty two out two strike walk
Re: Noot with yet another strike 3 looking with runners on base
His situational game awareness, whether offense or defense, has always been poor.
He is pretty much the opposite of Donovan, who nearly always anticipates and executes the right decision.
Which is one of the reasons why, 4 years ago, I was the only person who correctly saw and predicted that Donovan would become a star and a key player, whereas Mootbaar was destined to never be anything more than a complementary role player.
Ever season that goes by simply reinforces the unerring accuracy of my original assessment.
Re: Noot with yet another strike 3 looking with runners on base
I don't understand any player that looks at a third strike. Especially with runners on base. We were taught in little league, high school, college, and semi-pro to always be ready to swing at anything close with two strikes. I don't buy the
"looking for something else to swing at" argument.
