I think it might be time to consider packaging the number one for help at second C.

Dream scenario would be Brady Martin slipping to us.
Realistically, I'm hoping either Hensler or Bear are still on the board.

For an RFA center I could see something like that occurring, lots of good candidates, may have to throw in a prospect too.MandatoryDenial wrote: ↑05 May 2025 12:58 pmI think it might be time to consider packaging the number one for help at second C.
Braeden Cootes seems to check off some boxes for what the Blues like/need

With what Martin just did at the U18s, I bet he goes closer to 10 (maybe even earlier) than 20 now. I’d love to have him but would be shocked if he lasts to pick 19 now.

Ben Kindel or Cole Reschny...assuming that is the only 1st rounder we get. The only bright spot is the Blues picking someone who turns into a franchise superstar...that'll make me forget about this season.

No doubt the Blues would love Martin.STL fan in MN wrote: ↑05 May 2025 13:08 pm I’ll just post my list as of today. I’m sure it’ll change between now and late June but this is how it see it after watching the U18 tourney and a good chunk of the CHL playoffs.

I think the forward options will be Cootes, Reschny, Carbonneau. If they go D I think Brzustewicz or Fiddler. In the highlights I’ve seen Brzustewicz has more potential but the Blues pick a lot of late birthday players it seems and Fiddler has that.

Re: So....at #19 in the NHL draft who do you like
Reschny, Cootes and Boumedienne are the 3 I’d say I like more than the consensus rankings that I think have at least a reasonable chance of still being available at pick #19.
Reschny is only 5’10” but he oozes skill and hockey sense. He reminds me of Jaden Schwartz a lot. I prefer size but at a certain point in the draft, a player that skilled and smart becomes the BPA. I bet he has a very solid NHL career. Ben Kindel fits a similar profile but I like Reschny more.
Cootes looked just ok for Seattle in the Dub but he really impressed me at the U18s. I see a good middle-6 C in him.
Boumedienne played for top college program BU as a 17 year old this season. Was mostly paired with Willander (Vancouver prospect, taken one spot behind Dvorsky a couple years ago). He really came on in the 2nd half and then was very good at the U18s. Broke the record for points for a d-man at this tourney. Canada and Martin in particular bullied him in the gold medal game though so that gives me some pause. Canada won 7-0. Sweden simply had no answer for Canada’s physicality. So not a great end to the tourney for Boumedienne but his team as a whole was just overwhelmed on Saturday. He’s also a LD, which we have a ton of already in the pipeline, so while I have him ranked high, he doesn’t exactly fit an organizational need.

I do like the idea of Carbonneau at 19 may fill a weakness in the organization on the right side, would we get Guy's presence also around the franchise?STL fan in MN wrote: ↑05 May 2025 13:08 pm I’ll just post my list as of today. Misa - you gotta take Misa if he's still on the board - no doubt.

To my knowledge, Justin is not related to Guy.Harry S Deals wrote: ↑05 May 2025 13:22 pmI do like the idea of Carbonneau at 19 may fill a weakness in the organization on the right side, would we get Guy's presence also around the franchise?

It’s almost as if you’re a fan of a different team? One that might actually draft in the range where Misa would go? Seems perhaps you should find a board for that team to discuss it? Idk.BalotelliMassive wrote: ↑05 May 2025 13:31 pm Misa - you gotta take Misa if he's still on the board - no doubt.

I will throw one more in there....not first round but maybe we can get him in the 2nd
Matthew Gard 6"4 center Red Deer. Gard was really good in the U18's for Canada....i like him a lot.
