So will Saggese be called up to replace Winn ?
With what appears to be significant time for Winn to recuperate , will the Cardinals replace his roster spot with Thomas Saggese ?
The Cardinals have Barrero to play SS but could also give playing time to Saggese . I would prefer to give Saggese the bulk of the playing time as he has a more proven bat. Your thoughts ? Saggese , Barrero or another option for SS during Winn's absence ?

Sure, if Winn goes to the IL. Has any report been given about the severity of the injury? If they have, I missed it.

No doubt ankles can be a (buzz) and can take significant time to heal....ramfandan wrote: ↑05 May 2025 06:45 am With what appears to be significant time for Winn to recuperate , will the Cardinals replace his roster spot with Thomas Saggese ?

But....
I've heard nothing as to the severity...Will he be going on the IL?

So I don't think the ankle looked that bad. It could be played on, don't ask me how I know, but they'll probably be over cautious and IL him for a short period. I'd guess Saggese returns.

He was running in place at 3rd, and jumping up and down on it to keep it loose. It would surprise me if he even goes on IL.

Based on MO’s unwillingness to compete, my guess is barrero gets most of the playing time at SS so they call up Siani to split time with Scott so Scott doesn’t continue to embarrass his fellow players with his success.

agree.
In Goold's article this morning he quoted Oli as saying the sprain is mild.

Saggese slashed .341/.364/.512 in only 14 games in the majors this year.

In Major League Baseball (MLB), the Injured List (IL) is a system that allows teams to manage injured players while keeping them on the 40-man roster.
10-Day IL: Used for position players, requiring a minimum absence of 10 days. Players can be placed on the IL retroactively for up to 3 days after their last game played.
15-Day IL: Reserved for pitchers and two-way players, requiring a minimum absence of 15 days.
60-Day IL: Available for all players, requiring a minimum absence of 60 days. Players on this list are ineligible to return to the active roster for the remainder of the season.
Retroactive Placement: Players can be placed on the IL retroactively, allowing teams to manage rosters effectively while dealing with injuries4.
Strategic Use: The IL allows teams to replace injured players with healthy ones temporarily, maintaining competitive integrity and operational efficiency throughout the season.
