Game 7

Post by Bluesfan1978 »

Positives heading into game 7:
Pressure is huge on the Jets and Connor.
Last two games the WTF is scoring and driving play towards the net when they are on the ice.
Game 6 the D were back to being more aggressive and also getting pucks to the net. This makes the Jets spread their coverage out a bit, makes it harder on them over 60 mins.
Binner has looked sharp.
The Blues have the blueprint of how they need to play.
What they need to do: play like game 6, get pucks and traffic to the net.
They got away from that game 5 and were looking to often to make the extra pass.
Score first is huge if they can do it.
They need to simplify the PP, stop passing the puck 4/5 times. 2-3 passes and shoot the puck with traffic in front. That’s how you score in the playoffs.
Lastly I’d love to see Kyrou pop in a couple goals tonight.
No matter what happens tonight it’s been a hell of a run the last couple months.

It would have been a tough prediction at the beginning of March that the Blues would make the playoffs and then get a game 7 against the number one seed.

The pessimist in me does not feel good about tonight (6 straight road losses) but they’re playing with house money and with some puck luck could move on.

Win and we’re all excited.

Lose and it’s time to cue up Game 7 from 2019 on Youtube.

I also feel that it will be tough. The good is Binnington is the better goalie now and the pressure on Winnipeg is immense.

It will be tough. The jets are going to want to come flying out of the gate and get control of this game. I’m hope the Blues come out and grab the lead and don’t look back. Can’t give this team any momentum.

The Blues have treated us to some great hockey since the 4Nations, many exciting games and moments. This should be no exception, looking for their biggest and best performance yet..

Blues just beat the pants off the Jets in St. Louis. After three close losses in Winnipeg I expect they will correct some mistakes they made and get the job done tonight.

One thing to avoid is getting roped in for penalties. We’ve been fortunate most of the time with the penalty kill but why chance thing.
And to repeat others, shoot first & screen and crash the net mentality.
Esp Kyrou and Buch shoot on goal.

The other observation is to not play like we do in the 3rd periods. Even leading by 4 in the 3rd I was worried. 1st they scored and we never did again to challenge Comrie to throw some doubt into his goaltending. After they made it 5-2 they even had a 2 man advantage. We had scored 3 goals in short minutes (about 5) and it could have turned quickly.

I do love that after the score was tied, the Walker line set the tone and all of a sudden all the players were playing enthusiastically with speed. Instinct took over. It was a great period. Remember that one when playing Game 7

Yeah it's the whole gambit on a play off elimination game.

It's everyone who must jump in for their mates.

But JB is extra critical. And I believe he will do his above and beyond tonight.

The very same bunch that chose to cut away from M-A Fluery's last handshake line? They know hockey as much as I know quantum physics. Id' be more worried if they all chose the Blues.

A lot of them picked Tampa to win the cup so I take this as good news

My Biggest fear is that we have a One goal lead with 10 -12 minutes left in the the 3rd. How many people have confidence in them holding that lead??
Most of their wins have been by multiple goals, many of them by 3,4, or 5 goals.
The last one goal game we won was against Colorado and that was after we had a 4-0 lead. The habit of allowing late 3rd period goals is maddening and I really think it is a big mental block for the whole team right now.
And I hope they prove me wrong, but being from Missouri, you better show me first....

Let’s hope the ice is better than it was for Game 5 so the Blues skating will be better and the passing and catching of the puck aren’t as bad.

The Blues need to keep their foot on the gas if they get a lead. Can't sit back.
