Well boys you’re gonna get your wish. They both will be traded. And better yet, the reset will be almost complete in phase one- rid self of contracts. Nado is only one left.
We are talking two starters here, not pen arms. Great for a team in the hunt needing a four/five innings eater.
If Bloom is a stud, he should steal here. Just think, rid self of contracts, meaning new money to spend on two studs. AND getting prime cut prospects in return.
The perfect reset scenerio.
Do you possibly work for Brinks security company ?
Sounds like you are backing up the truck for loading quite the ‘haul’ !
I am. Check this out. You trade Mik Matz Nado Fedde Helsley you get at least 10 players/ prospects back. You save huge money. Then with these savings, we get our fist of two studs this off season.

Not a ‘haul,’ but they currently have trade value. Which is nice.
This. Yes they return a lesser prospect or two. But at least they don't cost to trade.
Exactly. Let’s say in theory the wanted to off load four contracts this past off season. They got rid of one. They couldn’t trade Matz or Mik due to being underwater.
Now they have value, you rid 30M, AND you get top level prospects.
It's unlikely we get top prospects. The Cards already have a jam on the IF.

What the point of a trade in a reset if it nets you zero in return. The money saved is a sidebar, the return is a key. That’s why we are talking haul, as both are hot.
My biggest concern is that we won’t find enough buyers for all five of our pending free agents in late July. Are we going to find trade partners to take MM, Matz, Nado, Fedde and RH? I would start listening to offers soon.
Atlanta has an ideal lrp for us, Aptly named Bummer. Only 31 yrs. old. Lefty,
Will give our forum new things to complain about.
e.g. Vs. dodgers last night. bobbles the easy ground ball while trying to tag runner. Then throws ball about 20 feet over catcher's head.

Should be plenty of trading partners, seems to be a huge increase in injuries this year.

See what meth and legalized pot has wrought? You’re not getting top level prospects AND shedding money. You’re not even getting top level prospects if the team ate ALL the money. Gray and Contreras have the most value and they’ve already said they’re not waiving their NTC’s. Next comes Helsley and Fedde. If they perform as the did in 2024, their return will be very good. However, those deals are months off. If Matz stays healthy and effective, he’ll net a prospect or two, but nothing top shelf. Mikolas will get us Drew Rom.

Mikolas has to waive the NTC, perhaps he will knowing the Cardinals aren't going to give him a new contract?
Matz should be in HIGH demand since he's been healthy and very good at both spot starting and especially as a LHRP (hello Mets?).
Mo needs to get off his lazy a z z and start marketing these two (if Mikolas agrees to waive) along w/Helsley (DBacks?) and Fedde.
Healthy...it's May
Which is why you shop him ASAP.
BUT
Isn't it amazing how these guys stay healthy and pitch well (re: Meatman Mikolas, even P. Corbin and a healthy Matz) when they're in their walk season and seeking a new contract after the season?

Exactly!
If I'm a fan and the Cards were in contention...and your front office gave up a top prospect for Matz and/or Lizard Puke...you'd be livid!

Holy [fork], Matz has pitched 24 innings. He did 44 last year. LMAO. It's May! He'll get injured soon...

AL seems quite wide open. Teams can always use pitching. NL might be less so but it’s still too early to tell. A 5 game losing streak by a team like SF could open the door.

I guess it depends on how you define "haul". If both of them return a kid in A ball that has a chance to become a major league player in 3 years fine. But I doubt either will return a player that slots into the top 15 of the STL farm system. Have to remember value is offset by contract status and cost. You aren't just trading for the player - you are also trading for his contract.
