ST. LOUIS – Honestly, this is so hard to decipher.
The discrepancy between the St. Louis Blues and Winnipeg Jets in this Western Conference First round series is quite home-dominated.
For the sixth straight game in this series, the home team held serve and there will be a Game 7 in this series after the Blues took control of Game 6 on Friday in the second period when they scored four times in a 5-2 win before another boisterous crowd at Enterprise Center.
Philip Broberg and Alexey Toropchenko each had a goal and an assist, Brayden Schenn, Cam Fowler and Nathan Walker each scored and Jordan Binnington once again bested Connor Hellebuyck with 21 saves.
The Blues have outscored the Jets 17-5 in the three games at home after a 7-2 win in Game 3 and 5-1 in Game 4.
* Four goals in 5:23 was an onslaught
* Faksa line sets tempo again, but is also now scoring

Never underestimate the value of a playoff goalie.

“He’s the total package,” Fowler said. “He’s a huge reason why we are where we are and we’ll continue to lean on him because he’s shown everybody time and time again that he’s world class.”a smell of green grass wrote: ↑03 May 2025 10:14 am Never underestimate the value of a playoff goalie.

If you would offer me a game 7 before the series I would have taken it with open arms. That being said we need to really improve on our power play and penalty kill. Someone needs to fix our faceoff guys too. Time and again in the last 3 minutes we iced the puck and then lost the ensuing draw to give the Jets great scoring chances.
I’m delighted to be facing a game 7 and I’m figuring we are a couple of years ahead of schedule. We still need to add some pieces but overall we are in a great spot.

Indeed. The Blues are a team in the here and now. Whether or not they need to "add some pieces" remains to be seen. After six games the President's Cup team with the Vezina frontrunner and Hart Trophy finalist in goal have failed to make that case, embarrassing themselves in the process. All the talk about what pieces the Blues need is really a tad premature. Oh, everyone certainly has a right to discuss the future but I would advise everyone to focus on what the Blues are doing and accomplishing NOW. These guys.Rollie Fingers wrote: ↑03 May 2025 11:24 am If you would offer me a game 7 before the series I would have taken it with open arms. The Blues, these guys, need to win ONE game, the next game, to extend their season into Round 2. These guys might just do that WITHOUT any added pieces.
After the season I'll have a lot to say about the future. There may be a whole new perspective by then. For sure though, I won't be disappointed in any of these guys.

The best acquisition we can make right now is getting Holloway back. But in order to do that we need to win tomorrow.
We’ve played some of our best hockey without key guys in the lineup, so we’ve proven our depth. But to make a deep run we’re gonna need him!
I’m expecting a game 7 win and another hard core matchup in round 2. This has been such a special season!

Yeah, but I would say it's the Blues who have dominated the Jets at home. The Jets have largely squeaked by at home and gotten the benefit of 3 cheap goals -- one accidentally kicked in by Snugg, one the result of Parayko knocking the stick out of Binnington's grasp and another that bounced off Parayko and in.Spyro Gyra wrote: ↑03 May 2025 10:10 am ST. I like Binnington to come up big in Game 7. The other 5 on the ice need to do likewise. We shall see.

Quite frankly in a winner take all situation my money is always on Binnington. He may not win them all, but you know he won't get rattled, and he will give his team every chance to win. The only other one playing currently who might be better in elimination games is Vasilevsky. If you gave me a choice of every goaltender in the game to win one game, I'm picking Binnington over all of them.icon wrote: ↑03 May 2025 17:13 pmYeah, but I would say it's the Blues who have dominated the Jets at home.
