Leddy/Suter…Men’s League Players

Post by BobbyBlue »

That’s what I thought watching them tonight. Skating in mud…hanging on to players for a surf ride as they skated by them and nothing in their aging legs to get to lose pucks in their zone…and forget about getting any offensive shots from either of them. Yup…they reminded me Men’s League players…

He’s had a tough series. But I like him. Needs to develop more physical strength to handle the every other day grind of playoff hockey. But he’s young. Good experience for him last year with Oilers and this year with Blues. Nice piece for us going forward. We wouldn’t be here without his play during the season. So…I like him…he’s not Men’s League by any means.

It's all part of a competitive rebuild. Enjoy.

The length of a Blues player contract is in direct relationship to how lousy they are. Our worse players in the playoffs are the ones signed the longest into the future.

So when they tell you to Enjoy the competitive rebuild, they mean that you will be sipping this lousy Bourbon for 5 more years.

Thank Doug Armstrong.

Good grief, we weren't supposed to be here but miraculously got in with fantastic play and now people are [redacted]' that we are playing bad or have a bad team and blaming Army. Was last night's game bad? Sure, but look at the experience our young guys are getting. If we win, we win, it not so be it, but take the this experience for the young guys will go far. We have got a great up and coming team with good guys following.

I think most of the griping is coming from people who don't realize just how miraculous our late season run was and expected that was going to continue in the playoffs. Now that reality is showing up they're (upset) just like the instant gratification addicts who don't understand what goes in to building a team truly capable of contending for Conference and Cup finals and have to have their playoff fix every season no matter what. That Blues roster is 2 -3 years from being completed.

Yeah it’s pretty phenomenal what happened. Super proud of the guys. Many need to grow into men. It’s a process

Our best players in the playoffs are the ones retiring in 3 years.
Fowler, Faksa, Sunquist

Ask yourself this...

What does it tell you that the guys that contributed most to the late-season run, are the exact same guys that disappeared in the playoffs a week later?

Some people really notice those energy guys, especially in the playoffs.

It is clear Thomas is playing injured again. What the team still needs is a better center than Schenn to pick up the slack when Thomas isn't 100%.

The team misses Holloway.

Sutter is the #7. They are missing a couple more under 25 guys to bring up. I was really hopeful the Rangers would mess up in their purge and trade us K'Andre Miller. A player in that age and ability is our missing piece on the back end.

8th seeds usually have areas/opportunities to upgrade. The Blues areas of opportunity have been at D and #2 C all year long, even now, 5 games into the playoffs.

I still contend that D needs 1 or 2 guys to be elite, but they have more than punched above their weight class this year especially considering Parayko/Broberg/Leddy have all missed significant time. You can add Krug to that list as you plan years ago for what a core is supposed to look like. So this Defensive group that is constructed to be mid tier to bottom tier hung in there around the middle of the pack defensively and excelled as a top 5 scoring unit offensively.

The number 2 spot is the biggest hole in the squad. If Schenn was a 3rd line center this team would be cooking with grease. Schenn would get to be that captain guy and take care of business and would definitely be able to usher on the young guys like a Bolduc. But that hole I don't see how it gets filled next year.

If you move Parayko you will get a 2C. You have to give to get.
