MLB Hitting: .242 (if projected over the year would tie for third lowest in the modern era). Last year it was .243, but was .238 after April, so there's reasonable expectation it will go up. Still, we live in times of historically low hitting.

The White Sox are at 7-23, a pace for a 38-124 season, which would be worse than last year. But Colorado is, so far, sying "Hold my Coors." at 5-25 they're on a pace for a futulity-setting 27-135 season. The worst win percentage in history (modern era) belongs to the 1916 Philadelphia A's at .235 (36-117). Last year's White Sox beat that at .253. They're only at .233 right now but the Rockies are at a paltry .167.

Watching the Cardinals merry men flail away does not give much hope for improvement. Even the guys who hit a little often chase multiple balls way out of the zone as if they think they might actually make strong contact at some point.
