Cardinal offense
Are we (me included) unfair to our hitters in judging their performance in light of the ballpark they play half their games in? Just a thought.
Re: Cardinal offense
Busch Stadium has never been considered a ‘hitters park’.
Far from it.
As for home runs, you sure don’t get any easy ones like some others with short right field porch, lower walls, etc.
vividly remember last year’s wildcard 3rd game in Milwaukee.
9th inning HR by Pete Alonso was s line drive that just cleared the fence if Brewers Beer Pen as some Brewer fans refer to it.
Ball traveled just 368 ft.

Re: Cardinal offense
BPV has made it even tougher for RHH it appears.
Did it effect TO and Bader some when many of their fly balls were caught on the track? I'd say probably yes versus where they would have been rewarded with HR's in many other ballparks.
Has it effected Arenado? I think so, for the same reason, with it altering him into more of a pull type hitter.
A guy like Alonso probably wouldn't be affected as much with his more elite type power vs. more marginal power types.

IDK, they couldn’t hit in the bandbox Cincy until Oli got tossed……I think they need a new manager….they’ll hit just fine.
Re: Cardinal offense
Seems to be a fairly neutral park thus far in 2025

What’s interesting is the runs scored aren’t all that different.rockondlouie wrote: ↑01 May 2025 08:57 am 2025 Cardinals

Interesting. To decode this mystery. Either the hitters are very structured at home, thus comfortable and in sync and rythm; or the pitchers aren’t in a mindful environment in a hotel on the road. Completely different norms for the same event- pitching in front of people.Futuregm2 wrote: ↑01 May 2025 10:47 amWhat’s interesting is the runs scored aren’t all that different.rockondlouie wrote: ↑01 May 2025 08:57 am 2025 Cardinals

My take.

Yep, noticed the same thing about the runs which is odd given the large difference in all slash categories.Futuregm2 wrote: ↑01 May 2025 10:47 amWhat’s interesting is the runs scored aren’t all that different.rockondlouie wrote: ↑01 May 2025 08:57 am 2025 Cardinals

And the pitching issues too, baffling there could be that large of a differential.

Very small sample size at this point. Pitching gave up 31 runs in 2 games at Femway. Throw those out and their team ERA is pretty close home / away.
