Re: Kyrou still in hybernation!
As a unit, that 2nd line has been the Blues worst line and it probably isn’t even close. They generate next to no offense. No offensive zone time in 14 of 15 periods. Schenn has been exposed with the injury to Holloway and his offense has dried up. Then Monty compounds the problem by putting 10 and 25 with another guy not known for his offensive play making skill. So Kyrou isn’t getting pucks where he needs to to be effective. And the line is just lost. Neighbours is trying, but he isn’t much better at passing than Schenn. And Kyrou is getting passive. It’s just a total breakdown for that line. Hits are nice, but they need to provide offense and that performance tonight was an epic failure by all 3 of them.

It's hard to beat a better team through physicality, hustle and making less mistakes than them 4 times out of 7.ScalesofJustice wrote: ↑30 Apr 2025 23:52 pm This wasn't a single player failure. Re: Kyrou still in hybernation!
Kyrou is a ghost. A shell.
He will not carry the puck in deep and instead makes head-scratcher plays that reveal a weak and disastrous preference for overly fancy versus GET THE PUCK IN DEEP AND GO TO WORK. I am sure he is missing the skill and inspiration of Holloway more than anyone else, so it becomes a double whammy.
It would be nice if he could remember the fairly recent version of himself thatt had begun to buckle down.
He still struggles with mental toughness and confidence in himself and in Monty’s plan.

That line was defensible given the Jets had line matchup advantage. The 3rd line got schooled and the Thomas line essentially broke even. The Jets focused on Snuggerud and tried to intimidate him physically but the young man held up, kept his cool. The 4th line held up. Yes, the Blues need Holliway, and they need an upgrade or two on the 3rd line, and ultimately they need an upgrade at 2C though Schenn can play somewhere.Harry York 37 wrote: ↑01 May 2025 02:13 am Kyrou is a ghost. Re: Kyrou still in hybernation!
Kyrou doesn’t need to just throw hits. He still needs to play hard. Get after the puck carrier, beat guys wide to lose pucks, take hits to make the right plays. He’s not doing any of that. He’s not battling down low, in his own end he even looked hesitant last night. There’s not a single player on either team that is playing like that other than Kyrou. Look at Snuggerud, is he throwing hits? Not really but he’s taking hits to make plays, I’ve seen him battling in front of the net and down low. He’s not playing g timid at all. He’s also 10-15 pounds lighter than Kyrou. Every player on the Blues team has proven they have the grit to play playoff hockey except Kyrou. No matter how much the rest of the team improves you won’t win too many series with a player in your top 6 playing that way.

Re: Kyrou still in hybernation!
It still doesn’t change the title of the thread. Other players didn’t have their best game last night but it wasn’t from lack of effort.
Re: Kyrou still in hybernation!
That was the Bannisters last night. I haven’t seen them play that poorly for a long time. It was almost across the board getting dominated (including coaching)
Re: Kyrou still in hybernation!
Chris Kerber was very frustrated with Kyrou's effort on the radio last evening. He only had 1 SHOT ATTEMPT the entire night. And, when they pulled Binnington, Chris noted that Kyrou gave away the puck, to allow the ENG. He's the most underperforming $8 million player the Blues have ever had. Time for him to be playing somewhere else next season. Build around Snuggerud and Holloway. #25 is a cancer that needs to be removed.

Kyrou Post Season
2 Goals
0 Aassits
-5 Plus/Minus
What does it tell you that a STAR of the 12-game win streak is 100% missing in the playoffs?
What it tells me... Regular season, especially late regular season, tells you nothing about what you have as a team.

Re: Kyrou still in hybernation!
Kyrou was noticeable in his lack of impact on the game last night for sure. Agree with Harry York in that he needed to get the puck in deep and get to work, but instead generally tried to force a fancy play or simply looked tentative or unsure of what to do. And yes, this was a broader team issue...in the 3rd period I was yelling at the TV to just put pucks on net.
They were trying to force fancy plays and make small passes in our offensive zone, but the Jets were just so good at breaking up those plays. Their sticks always seemed to be in the passing lanes, yet we kept trying to force fancy little passes. To be fair, those plays did indeed yield a couple decent looks, but overall they just needed to simplify their game, put pucks on the net, go to the net, etc. So frustrating.

Yeah, the Blues saw that Snuggerud rolling puck shot beat Hellychoke but were still trying to make cute passes after that instead of putting more shots on goal. Puzzling and frustrating. And Montgomery deserves some of the blame for that. He should have been telling them what to do. Maybe he did and they just didn't follow his orders.sneptsmoustache wrote: ↑01 May 2025 07:39 am Kyrou was noticeable in his lack of impact on the game last night for sure. Re: Kyrou still in hybernation!
Even with his good regular season, Kyrou does a lot of failing at 6 on 5. I know he had the big goal vs Detroit, but that play where he just gave the puck away last night happened way too much and has cost the Blues a ridiculous amount of goals against the last couple of seasons. As more talent comes in, you have to wonder if there is going to be a spot for him in that unit, because of his shortcomings.skeezix wrote: ↑01 May 2025 07:29 am Chris Kerber was very frustrated with Kyrou's effort on the radio last evening. Re: Kyrou still in hybernation!
Combine the skill of Kyrou with the grit of Walker, and you'd have yourself a great playoff player.
Re: Kyrou still in hybernation!
If you're pointing at Kyrou for last night. I'm betting you point at him a lot.
I think maybe only Walker and that line was hustling last night.
Without Holloway, Kyrou has no line mate to play up to. Putting Neighbours on that line, all but turned them into grinders. With the play pushed behind the net. Instead of towards the net.
I think we need a line up change.
I also think we need to stop trying to out coach. Matching lines and designating a style to play hasn't worked away from home. Where big hits, get big cheers. those benefit don't apply on the road.
On the road. Benefits are in doing business. Puck pressure and straight to the net attitude wins those game.
Kyrou should be on the first line.
I almost want to put Buch back at 2c, with the two Yutes
Snuggler and Bolduc.
Neighbours.Thomas. Kyrou
Snugs. Buch. Bolduc
Joe.Schenn.Tex.
4th line.
If our next game, is our last of this season. Let it be one for the future.

Re: Kyrou still in hybernation!
I like Jordan and have defended him quite often, but since that hit by Logan Stanley he has essentially been neutered.
He has become a non-factor, even at home, and that simply shouldn't happen to a perennial 30 goal scorer.
If the Blues are going to win the next 2 he has to be a threat when he is on the ice and right now he is no more a threat then someone in the pressbox.
