DEFENSE NEXT YEAR

Post by OlderndWiser »

Our D needs an overhaul for next year. We have to get rid of Leddy and Faulk for starters. They add nothing to this team. Our best D men are Parayko and Fowler and both are getting up there in age. Broberg is a keeper but someone has to get him in the weight room. He's getting tossed around like a rag doll by the Jets. I know he's a Swede but someone has to teach him the physical side of the game. I love what I've seen from Tucker, but can we trust what we saw earlier in this series? Love his grit and we need much more of that.

We desperately need a good right handed shot as a second RHD man. I know Dobson of the Islanders was rumored to be on the block although I can't imagine why. He would be a perfect acquisition.

Overall we need much more size and toughness, like we had in 2019.

The forwards are another story. Kyrou has so much talent but will not buy- in and take a hit to make a play. He succeeds when people set him up with the puck on a tee. He needs to grow a pair. Schenn is not a valid 2C and this issue needs to be addressed. He needs to be a 3rd line LW if he is on the team next year. Bolduc is being schooled in this series but he is a keeper. The 4th line is what it is. (bleep) do I miss Holloway... our best player this year.

Lots of work to do yet, DA.

I wonder when Steen takes the reins and how much autonomy he'll have. Regardless there is much retooling to be done. I don't know how much different next year's team will be from this one but I expect close to half the roster to be gone by the '27-'28 season. A few fan favorites won't be here, I would almost bet the farm on it.
