Players get hot or cold for 60 games, then turn into what they are...happens all the time

Depending on how hot the 60 games was, and depending on the degree of level off, still might make for an overall good season. At .370 he may end up hitting 280 ish.

Carson has 46 ABs and posting a 294 OPS+. he's a career below average hitter.

I know and agree. But to my point, he’s high enough now in stats, to be able to weather a fall back to normal numbers, to record a nice season.

And that’s if he falls slow.

Yes at the low number very quickly. You are right. A slow descent or remaining warm could happen too.

A player who comes to mind with the Cubs was Jim Hickman. At age 32 & 33 had his two best years by far in his career.

Ryan Ludwick was another at age 30 and 31 with the Cardinas.

What is it with you and thinking everything comes down to PED's?? Players get hot for long stretches, figure it out late in their career, hit their peak at 30 etc, all the time dude. Ludwick, Bautista, Encarnacion, Melvin Mora, Justin Turner, and sooo many more. The list of pitchers is even more substantial.

Stop being so lazy.

He's never been quite this hot, but he's had a few sustained hot streaks in the past.

In 2019, he had a 1.018 OPS May-July (58 games). Finished the year .245/.348/.478 112 OPS+

In 2021, he had a 1.224 OPS in March/April. Finished the year .240/.343/.411 104 OPS+

He was another ex-Card outfielder. Also a Metropolitan.

Should note that Carson Kelly has Chicago roots and grew up a Cubs fan. May have finally found that ‘comfort’ level that allows him to play more freely.
