He was practicing with them before game 4 and listed as possible going into that game but they held him back another game. When the series started he was always projected to return in the middle of this series. I see no m evidence they rushed him as panic movesdaltons wrote: ↑29 Apr 2025 22:39 pmDepends on just how healthy he actually is. Would you feel the same way if Holloway was healthy and we inserted him into the lineup? Because that’s what they’re getting here. He’s their 1st line RW. 61 pts in 71 games this season. Make no mistake, he’s going to help them.
It's one thing if they are healthy to start a series. But now that we are to a game where if they don't reverse the trend, they will find themselves facing elimination? Feels like they are bringing him in and hoping he'll perform a miracle to right the ship.
But anyway if he truly is 100% then I digress.

Exactly. And yeah, he took warmups before Game 4 as well. This was always the timetable for Vilardi. I see no reason to believe he won’t be effective. Will almost certainly add more than whatever player he knocks out of the lineup.Wattage wrote: ↑30 Apr 2025 06:29 amHe was practicing with them before game 4 and listed as possible going into that game but they held him back another game. Well, I'm with you - if they' were up 3-1 they just as well probably give him the extra rest - who knows? We can assume in either case that he's still not going to be up to full game speed or ramped up to playoff intensity. He'll help them, sure, but the Blues have to be confident either way.
Even on their ice, those first two games were close and decided in the final period. I still like our chances to take 2 of the next 3.
Re: Vilardi in for game 5
Since winnipeg is reportedly putting him on the first line with scheifele and connor, they will still primarily be 1 line team, only now all 3 options on top line are potemt cuz the 3rd guy theynhad there was.kinda just a passenger. So they still rely on that top line although it will be a bit more dangerous. He could also make the powerplay.more dangerous. Their bottom 3 lines should still be the same to handleArmy's Mom wrote: ↑30 Apr 2025 10:08 amWell, I'm with you - if they' were up 3-1 they just as well probably give him the extra rest - who knows? Guy on 101 yesterday said they're significantly worse at 5v5 with him in the lineup than Iafallo on line 1
PP is diff story but that's something the Blues can manage if they dont take penalties...its also playoffs, less penalties

Re: Vilardi in for game 5
Im not sure i buy that they are worse with him 5vs 5, but while vilardi is a great physical power forward with a great netfront presence and finishing ability, he also rated by the stats as one of the slowest players in the league, so there is definitely a hole to his game.

I dont know thats what the stats say.Wattage wrote: ↑30 Apr 2025 12:16 pmIm not sure i buy that they are worse with him 5vs 5, but while vilardi is a great physical power forward with a great netfront presence and finishing ability, he also rated by the stats as one of the slowest players in the league, so there is definitely a hole to his game.
He went to some nerd site and cited some stats i'm not familiar with lol. Cited corsi rating too which i've heard of but dont know what it all entails
Re: Vilardi in for game 5
Corsi is literally % of shot attempts for your team while you are on the ice(including blocked shots) vs opponents shot attemps while you are on the ice which isnsupposed to give an idea on puck possession based on how mu h a team is shooting. While cool to look at, it doesnt tell full story because not all shots are equal and gonna have same chance at going in.storyNatl20 wrote: ↑30 Apr 2025 12:58 pmI dont know thats what the stats say.Wattage wrote: ↑30 Apr 2025 12:16 pmIm not sure i buy that they are worse with him 5vs 5, but while vilardi is a great physical power forward with a great netfront presence and finishing ability, he also rated by the stats as one of the slowest players in the league, so there is definitely a hole to his game.
