I screwed up; I was wrong!
Look, I'm guilty as charged! I throw myself on the mercy of the court. Go easy on me. Take pity on me!
Yes, I predicted the Cards would win 78 games this season. I'm such an idiot! This is not even close to being a 78 win team. And what's worse...this team is doomed for the next several seasons.
1. The organization is terrible. They no longer develop star players. Hell, even in the 70's they developed talent like Hernandez, Templeton, Simmons, Forsch. Now who do we have? Noot...okay. Hurdy Gurdy...sure. But no real star power, is there?
2. The Manager is horrific. Sure, this is his last season. But hey...had to fire Shildt because he wasn't a yes man!
3. The DeWitt's didn't like spending money when we drew three million fans. We sure as heck won't be signing any elite free agents now.
4. No sense of urgency. Reminds me of the early 90's when August III ran the team. He didn't care. He didn't spend. No sense or urgency to turn things around and win.
I'm frustrated. How did this once proud franchise fall so fast? Horrible drafting and horrible player development.
I've seen this movie before. It could easily be years before we're competitive again. Sad.

I doubt you are the only one.
Never did I imagine the team would be this bad on the road. I am shocked they have won two on the road so far.
I was all pumped and hopeful. I am not so pumped and not so hopeful now.
64-98 ... 70-92 ....?
Unless something (or several things) change....

I had 'em at 76-86, re-upped that and now feel like I have given them way too much credit
I need a couple of fingers of David Nicholson.

Avoiding 100 losses might be their ultimate goal.cardsfaninla wrote: ↑28 Apr 2025 21:07 pm I doubt you are the only one.

Yes, you are very frustrated. Wasn’t sure if I should add to your misery but in No. 2 you stated that this was Oli’s last year.. maybe you are hoping he is fired but his contract included 2026 season too !Monsieur De Treville wrote: ↑28 Apr 2025 21:00 pm Look, I'm guilty as charged! Said they were trending to the bottom of the division.
Not happy about it just looking at the reality of the situation.
Thank God for the Pirates.
For now.

Is that any good? I've been drinking Blanton's for years, but now it's way overpriced. Also enjoy Tullamore Dew with ginger beer and a lime.

I do have faith that the first thing Bloom will do is sheit-can Oli....if it's not done during this season.ramfandan wrote: ↑28 Apr 2025 21:17 pmYes, you are very frustrated. Moe won’t fire Oli. He thinks Oli hung the moon. He and Oli, two real baseball men. The architects of this and the last two seasons. They are proud of what they have accomplished. After all, it takes some big brass balls to take a 3.3 million attendance team and turn it into a 2.0 million team. Hats off to you boys!

Mo won't do it unless forced by ownership, but it'll most likely be one of the first things Bloom does when he assumes full control.Rojo Johnson wrote: ↑28 Apr 2025 23:27 pm Moe won’t fire Oli. Re: I screwed up; I was wrong!
The prize for being wrong in anonymity on an Internet forum is the same as the prize for being right. But don’t tell that to the “I was right” crowd. It’s all they have to live for.
Re: I screwed up; I was wrong!
Buck up boys. StL is a 500 club in the worst MLB division. There's plenty of time and games with divisional foes for the pendulum to swing back.
