Blues recall Ellis Alexandrov & Schueneman
Per the St Louis Blues website Blues have recalled a goalie, forward and a defenseman. I wonder if one of our goalies are injured.

Re: Blues recall Ellis Alexandrov & Schueneman
Yes, they would be the black aces. I expected them to recall more so guys like Dvorsky, Dean, Stenberg, Kaskimaki etc could soak in the NHL playoff experience but my guess is they wanted to keep the group small as to not add too much of a distraction to the main group or make the coaches have to conduct a second practice just for the black aces. I wouldn’t be surprised if some of the other T-birds are still practicing and staying in game shape in Springfield and haven’t been released for the summer yet.
For those that aren’t aware, the T-birds season ended Sunday night with a loss to Providence.
Sounds like Dvorsky is most likely headed off to the World Championships to play for Slovakia. That tourney starts in a little over a week in Sweden/Denmark. Should be good experience for him to play with the Sr team.

The US has already announced the first 18 guys on their roster: https://teamusa.usahockey.com/news_arti ... w/1337381
As the 1st and even 2nd rounds of the NHL playoffs wrap up, some additional guys will be talked into it.
With the games in Sweden this year, I suspect their roster will be extra potent this time around. Guys like Lucas Raymond, Filip Forsberg, Adam Larsson, Leo Carlsson, Mika Zibanejad, Mikael Backlund, Rasmus Anderson and William Eklund have already committed to going.
Re: Blues recall Ellis Alexandrov & Schueneman
Is it a known fact that Suter is ready health wise to step in to game 5 or is their a question on that?
If the concern is borderline, might Monty go with 7 D and risk losing a forward?

Boy Nikita again racking up the points in the AHL hes only 24 years old. Im sure he'll again be in camp with the Blues it would be nice to see him earn the 4th center spot but he cant seem to put it together in the NHL 51 GP 3gs 9pts or something like that. Too bad he looks to have a bit of toolbox the Blues like

It’s a slight unknown. My guess is we’ll know more soon as they likely have a practice schedule for sometime this morning.
My guess is we’ll see Suter on the 3rd pairing in line rushes.

Re: Blues recall Ellis Alexandrov & Schueneman
The probably is Alexandrov doesn’t really play a 4th line type of game. He’s a finesse skill guy. He’s excellent at that at the NHL level but not really good enough at it to displace one of our top-6 guys. And he just doesn’t bring the tenacity, grit etc to displace one of our bottom-6 guys. He’s a classic tweener.Harry S Deals wrote: ↑29 Apr 2025 09:57 am Boy Nikita again racking up the points in the AHL hes only 24 years old. Also, he played this entire season at LW so I wouldn’t project him as a C going forward. I’d say there’s a good chance he’s in Blues camp in the fall but it’s far from guaranteed IMO. He was on just a one year contract and he was the last guy to sign last summer. He made $150k this season in the AHL. His NHL rate was league minimum ($775k) but he got zero games with us so didn’t see a dime of that. I wouldn’t be surprised if he sees the writing on the wall and goes to Russia or somewhere else in Europe next season.
Re: Blues recall Ellis Alexandrov & Schueneman
If the Blues were looking to add scoring depth across 3 lines then maybe put him on the LW with Schenn and Bolduc because those guys can bring the sandpaper for that line. Holloway and Kyrou with Dvorsky to give the rookie some high end vets to play with. Buch-Thomas-Snuggerud as your 1st. Joseph-Sunny-Torp for your traditional 4th although I'd be comfortable giving them decent ice time. Not saying to go this route but if you did that's a good way to set the lines.STL fan in MN wrote: ↑29 Apr 2025 10:05 amThe probably is Alexandrov doesn’t really play a 4th line type of game. Re: Blues recall Ellis Alexandrov & Schueneman
I assume you’re talking about next season? I’ll be pretty disappointed if the Blues have a summer to where Alexandrov ends up on their 2nd line. Texier and Walker are also signed for next season too. I expect Walker to be back but wouldn’t be surprised if they try to move Tex. He clearly doesn’t seem to be favored by Monty.LGB73 wrote: ↑29 Apr 2025 10:33 amIf the Blues were looking to add scoring depth across 3 lines then maybe put him on the LW with Schenn and Bolduc because those guys can bring the sandpaper for that line. Re: Blues recall Ellis Alexandrov & Schueneman
Is Kessel already here? Or did Schueneman just move a step closer to playing with Tucker presumably being out?
Re: Blues recall Ellis Alexandrov & Schueneman
Kessel is shown on the roster.
It would be surprising to me if Schueneman jumps him for play off hockey no matter the L/R issue.
