Honk if you hate-hate-hate those e-ads moving along the boards
I understand the NHL and its TV partners want to maximize ad revenue, but antagonizing the target market with moving ads following the puck won't do it. How about instead placing TV ads on the seating areas, especially over the faces of those clowns who stand and wave at the camera when play moves their way?

I’m fine with the superimposed ads on the boards…until they make them moving. Then it’s too distracting. I would assume they add action as it makes them more noticeable but it’s too much IMO.

As long as the puck tracker thing isn't on...I'm good lol

They Suck.
All Board advertising sucks, the puck gets lost in it.

I don't mind those clowns nearly as much as I do the [fork]ing IDIOTS that pound on the glass when the play is near their seats.Pink Freud wrote: ↑27 Apr 2025 13:36 pm I understand the NHL and its TV partners want to maximize ad revenue, but antagonizing the target market with moving ads following the puck won't do it. I found them terribly distracting at first but have got used to them and managed to tune them out.

I think they're kind of cool but doesn't that distract the players? I mean, what if you're in the corner trying to play a puck off the boards, and suddenly you lose it because a picture of a coffee mug pops up! It seems cray-cray! Plus, what kind of plastic technology are they using to make those ads work so well and take all that impact from hits and pucks but they never seem to damage, bend or slow down. It's gotta be some space-age plastic like they use on the Hubble. Very cool, though! Just something seems kinda fishy...Pink Freud wrote: ↑27 Apr 2025 13:36 pm I understand the NHL and its TV partners want to maximize ad revenue, but antagonizing the target market with moving ads following the puck won't do it. They pound on the glass because, since the puck is there, the TV image will also capture the fan and the mic atop the glass will pick up the pounding so the pathetic fan can text everyone watching and ask if they saw and heard him.
How proud they must be.

I thought is wasn't really on the boards. its some kind of digital overlay added somewhere in the booth. Players on the ice don't see the boards changing ads.blackinkbiz wrote: ↑27 Apr 2025 15:09 pmI think they're kind of cool but doesn't that distract the players? So what I paid to watch. Does that mean I can pound on them!netboy65 wrote: ↑27 Apr 2025 14:05 pmThey paid that much to sit there, they can beat on the glass if they wantSpyro Gyra wrote: ↑27 Apr 2025 14:04 pmI don't mind those clowns nearly as much as I do the [fork]ing IDIOTS that pound on the glass when the play is near their seats.Pink Freud wrote: ↑27 Apr 2025 13:36 pm I understand the NHL and its TV partners want to maximize ad revenue, but antagonizing the target market with moving ads following the puck won't do it. Moving adds never bothered me tbh I thought that were cool when I first noticed them. The ones that took a bit of adjusting to for me was the ones they project on ice and on the glass behind the goalies. Remember one time thinking why is Dobbs advertising in Canada... lol

Ushers tell them to stop at any game I've been to. So, no. They can't actually.netboy65 wrote: ↑27 Apr 2025 14:05 pmThey paid that much to sit there, they can beat on the glass if they wantSpyro Gyra wrote: ↑27 Apr 2025 14:04 pmI don't mind those clowns nearly as much as I do the [fork]ing IDIOTS that pound on the glass when the play is near their seats.Pink Freud wrote: ↑27 Apr 2025 13:36 pm I understand the NHL and its TV partners want to maximize ad revenue, but antagonizing the target market with moving ads following the puck won't do it. Probably worried the glass might come out. Big difference between that and just because some might find it annoying.aslord wrote: ↑29 Apr 2025 03:37 amUshers tell them to stop at any game I've been to. So, no.
