Notes from Now Blues 2-2 : Need a Road Win
What a great Monday! How often do we get to say this. Playoff hockey for the fans of STL has no extended 2 more games than a lot of fans thought. I myself had us in this round, but didn't see us getting out of it because I assumed that a Dallas, Avs, Oil (this was beginning of the year) would dispose of us in the first round. But instead we get the Jets as the Presidents trophy winner and both teams playing without a couple stars. That being said, here are some of the notables from the Blues perspective.
That injury looks like clearly Tucker out. With seemingly nothing as of updates for Hollywood, his return doesn't seem close at all.
Some of the Stars have showed up.
Fowler, Buchy, Thomas. All have 8-7-6 points respectively.
Neighbours with 5. Those guys are our PPG or above. Awesome stuff from the boys.
Binner, no words needed here, maybe 1 save so far in the series he would want back.
Other guys that have shown up.
CP55 (should be a star but returning from injury) showed up in a big way the last 2 games. He's got 3 points
Faulk is having a good series. I have seen 1 goofy turnover that was quickly recovered. He's got himself 3 points as well. Leading the team in TOI
the WTF line is leading the team in Production Value. I know that's always a goofy stat but it's saying they are doing their job.
Other notables, Schenn gets one and seems like he's doing his best to keep the guys from getting gooned up on. He is going to need help because Tucker will be out. It seems like the other 3 contributors to getting under the Jets skin has been Bolduc, Sunny, and Walker. Sunny can hold his own and Walker isn't scared of anyone, but going to someone to lay some thunder that isn't a Neighbours because we are already too thin at forward. can't lose another guy producing.
If it ended today, this would be a successful season. This team has won 8 of the first 12 periods. Probably should be 3-1 trying to close this out if we are all being honest. But 2-2 means we need a road win. The way the team has been winning is by swarming the Jets with 4 lines which is what made us good before. Hollywood is still clearly missed. Imagine if Kyrou got going. He had good jump in my opinion in game 3. So maybe it's just a minute. If we get one of those patented Kyrou game against Talbot or something he might be able to win us one of these last games by himself.
Last thing I will leave the start of the conversation with. Now that the Blues season met probably the upper 80 percent of expectations for success, might as well just go win the whole f'ing thing.

Re: Notes from Now Blues 2-2 : Need a Road Win
My thoughts all season, from game 1 until they clinched, was that the Blues were a wildcard team. They showed us a lot down the stretch, and I made the comment before the playoffs began that this team can win it all or get bounced in 4. They've shown their quality in the last two games. They could still get bounced in 6 or 7 but I like their chances of moving on to the next round and playing competitive hockey against whomever they play.
The Blues lost two closely contested games in Winnepeg, then came home to earn two decisive victories. They have Helly on the ropes. The Blues need keep that momentum and take it to 'em in game 5. The Jets will be motivated to get up off the mat on their home ice; the Blues need to keep them from doing so. Can't wait. Let's go Blues.

100 percent. The question is if the Blues can take it to them on Wednesday. The noticeable thing I'm taking away from the first 4, is that the Blues have come out buzzing every 1st period. They look faster and better out of the gate. But matchups favored the Jets by getting 2nd shift at home. It was just enough to grind out a couple wins. When that role was reversed, the Blues looked faster, and they just swarmed them by getting to open up the top line off of the Jets top line when they felt.BrummerStealsHome wrote: ↑28 Apr 2025 10:41 am My thoughts all season, from game 1 until they clinched, was that the Blues were a wildcard team. To me that's the most interesting storyline. I know they are missing 2 people. But if both teams were fully healthy, Hollywood making our 2nd line even more dangerous would make this series a nightmare for the Jets. That's at least how it appears. But I still give them that edge that their 1 line seems to be able to slow down our 1 line. If the Blues jump them again in the 1st period like they did in games 1 and 2, they might start panicking their gameplan.

Leddy has been some what uneventful...that's good and bad btw. But maybe he breaks out a bit and can generate a few points.
This teams role players have been outstanding the whole series. They will need every one of them to win.

IMHO, the Blues could still win the Series if they lose Game 5. The Jets will be done if they lose Game 5. Again, that is just my opinion.

I have high hopes that Game 6 will be the last game the Jets play this year.Lets_Clinch wrote: ↑28 Apr 2025 17:09 pm IMHO, the Blues could still win the Series if they lose Game 5. The Jets will be done if they lose Game 5. Again, that is just my opinion.

Oh, I am with you brother-Hockey Playoffs are kind of like the worst torture and the best sex combined together when the Blues are involved. It's all I can take either way.Aesa wrote: ↑28 Apr 2025 17:11 pmI have high hopes that Game 6 will be the last game the Jets play this year.Lets_Clinch wrote: ↑28 Apr 2025 17:09 pm IMHO, the Blues could still win the Series if they lose Game 5. Yeah its now a Best of 3 so they gotta win one on the road or they are out...that simple. Sad thing is they had that one win in Game 1, but [shirt] the 3rd period bed.

They should use Hellebuyck to get into the playoffs each season then send him down to the Manitoba Moose when the playoffs start so he can contribute at his correct level. He's not really an NHL caliber goalie once it's April and May

2 on the road works too.smilinjoefission wrote: ↑28 Apr 2025 17:38 pm Yeah its now a Best of 3 so they gotta win one on the road or they are out...that simple. Sad thing is they had that one win in Game 1, but [shirt] the 3rd period bed.
Re: Notes from Now Blues 2-2 : Need a Road Win
Technically that was always true with only 3 home games.smilinjoefission wrote: ↑28 Apr 2025 17:38 pm Yeah its now a Best of 3 so they gotta win one on the road or they are out...that simple. Sad thing is they had that one win in Game 1, but [shirt] the 3rd period bed.

Re: Notes from Now Blues 2-2 : Need a Road Win
The closer we get to tomorrow, I'm convinced a couple things has to happen. The Blues obviously have to win 1 on the road. And 2 we either need to win one where Binner doesn't have a good night, or we win one with a goalie battle. Binner currently at a .907. That's at least how I feel.
Re: Notes from Now Blues 2-2 : Need a Road Win
We have to win the final game of the series.
