The Jets or Blues win this series if...

Post by LuvthaBlues »

There's no doubt that the last two games were amazing wins, but this series is VERY far from over. There is a real chance that we lose this series and games 3 and 4 are the highlights of our season and frankly, I'm perfectly fine with that if that's how io goes.

But we can still win too! So, what will it take for either team to win this series? Here are some quick thoughts of mine that jump out to me.

The Blues will win this series if...

They stay consistent on 5v5 play (hard forecheck, quick transitions).
The defense stays engaged in the offense.
We get traffic in front of the net and funnel shots, 'Peg doesn't seem to have answer for that yet.
And stay disciplined. Their PP can undo us if it starts to come to life.

Winnipeg will win this series if...

They regain their regular season form.
Their PP wakes up. For them, there is no saviour here, but Vilardi will help their offense and surely their PP will get much better and that can be a difference maker.
If the Blues defense is affected by Tuck's injury and Suter's issue (fatigue? Injury?) that may wear us down and expose us on D.

Anybody else got thoughts?
(other than the "they score more than us" stuff? )

The biggest difference in the wins and losses against Winnipeg, and it was evident in the regular season:

Getting to the middle of the ice.

The games the Blues have won, they have dominated the middle of the ice, especially in Winnipegs end.

The games they have lost, they haven't made it to the middle and have taken low percentage shots from the boards.

That's basically been the story of the first 4 games.

Good post. So proud of this Blues team.

You covered most but ....I would add what happens with the goal tenders performances.

I'm still on cloud 9 NOT going north down 3-1.
