I don’t know how I feel about this Dvorsky decision

If there are injuries and we needed him, he wouldn’t be available. At the same time, he’s probably not going to play and this means a great deal to him.

Re: I don’t know how I feel about this Dvorsky decision
If there were injuries that would have put Dvorsky in the lineup, we would be in bad shape and DD isn't going to save the day anyway. Going to the WC will benefit him in the long run.
Re: I don’t know how I feel about this Dvorsky decision
They recalled Alexandrov. I think that probably settles this.
I think you could argue being here for the remainder of the playoff push and just being around the guys would be a great experience for him.
But there is great experience to be had participating in the tournament, as well, and it's important to him. No harm letting him do that one more time and then hoping he's here to stay and this isn't even an afterthought next year.

it's little things like this that can help a player become a little bit more attached to a team.
Is it a huge thing or one that will make him fall in love with us? Probably not, but it can potentially help with some contract negotiations in the future when every last dollar counts.

Re: I don’t know how I feel about this Dvorsky decision
I dont think DD is anywhere close not even in he same universe as being ready for this current level of NHL playoff action so its mute point the Blues would have approved on this decision. Next man up in that case would be Alexandrov or some one else as mentioned above. No worries great idea to keep him playing
Re: I don’t know how I feel about this Dvorsky decision
He's played 18:49 of (regular season) NHL hockey. No way Blues play him in playoffs.
Agree 100 percent with Section315: If there were injuries that would have put Dvorsky in the lineup, we would be in bad shape and DD isn't going to save the day anyway. Going to the WC will benefit him in the long run.

You never go wrong when you treat people the right way. Given his desire to play and the remote chance the DD would play significant minutes in this playoff, I like the decision.

Re: I don’t know how I feel about this Dvorsky decision
The WCs don’t start until May 9th. If the Blues wanted him here then he’d be here. I found it interesting they only recalled Alexandrov, Schueneman and Ellis as Black Aces. Those are the 3 most NHL ready to be thrown into the playoff fire though. But I expected them to recall more - just to soak in the experience if anything else - Dvorsky, Stenberg, Kaskimaki, Loof, etc.
Think about it more though, you also have to balance making sure all the young guys aren’t a distraction to the main group. Usually that’s done by keeping them separate and running a secondary Black Aces practices and then only adding them to the main group if and when they’re needed. But my guess is they kept the group small and they’ll just add these 3 to the main group. That way the asst coaches don’t have to spend time running a practice for the secondary group. And perhaps they’re keeping some of the other guys in Springfield and just having the coaches there keep them in game shape.

It's not a problem to not bring him up, but I don't agree with the claim that he is not close to the universe of being ready. That's over the top hyperbole IMO, He had two primary helpers on the 3 total goals his team scored and did not look overmatched by the pace of playoff play this past weekend. He skated well. Strong likelihood he'll be on the team next year and then play in the playoffs next year assuming he's healthy.

I’d agree. He’d certainly be an option. But I get rewarding Alexandrov over him. He has NHL experience and if they really need to put one of these guys in the lineup, Alexandrov should at least be able to hold serve and eat some 3rd line minutes while the other lines rest.seattleblue wrote: ↑28 Apr 2025 14:59 pm It's not a problem to not bring him up, but I don't agree with the claim that he is not close to the universe of being ready. Re: I don’t know how I feel about this Dvorsky decision
He did not look close to ready in his very brief stint in the NHL there is ZERO chance the Blues play him in this post season. Hes not close I am not of the mind that hes on the '25-'26 opening night roster either. I think Army goes outside the organization to supplement the center depth probably not in a major way but a legit 3C, I can see DD again recalled next season that seems certain.seattleblue wrote: ↑28 Apr 2025 14:59 pm It's not a problem to not bring him up, but I don't agree with the claim that he is not close to the universe of being ready. The AHL playoffs are obviously a notch above the AHL regular season but this isnt comparable to the level of play in this series so...

Just offering my opinion having watched the player a lot. I think he's closer to ready than "not close to the same universe."Harry S Deals wrote: ↑28 Apr 2025 15:04 pmHe did not look close to ready in his very brief stint in the NHL there is ZERO chance the Blues play him in this post season. Re: I don’t know how I feel about this Dvorsky decision
You kind of hit it later with "the main group." You have to remember, nearly this whole team is resigned for next year. Only Suter, Faksa are UFA and Hofer needs a RFA contract. All the other guys have 1 year left on their contracts like Texier, Joseph, Fowler, Leddy..... This team is playing for the playoffs this year, but also playing for next year. There are only a couple spots reserved for guys not on the team, and even those will be hard to come by next year. DD is probably in line for 1. There might be 1 defensive spot, unless this Tucker injury is really bad then there might be 2. No need to over crowd the locker room when there's already a couple guys that helped get us to this point wearing suits.STL fan in MN wrote: ↑28 Apr 2025 14:47 pm The WCs don’t start until May 9th. Re: I don’t know how I feel about this Dvorsky decision
In this case he probably isn’t close to getting in any NHL games this playoffs so it’s probably best to see him in the Worlds’s playing against other NHL level competition.
