Farm Reliant dEwitt: Dude, IF YOU WANT TO BE A BIG DOG, THEN SPEND BIG DOG DOLLARS!
Underutilization of free agency.
That's how we got here in this predicament.
Cheapness personified.
Then blames "business model"
Doosh comes to mind.
Here's a quote
"If you want to be a big dog, better spend big dog dollars"
There I said it again, but more controllably.

Unfortunately, small to mid market teams can’t spend like the big dogs. Smaller revenues from cable won’t support it.Bully4you wrote: ↑28 Apr 2025 10:24 am Underutilization of free agency.

Cranny is either a front office flunky or a Post-Dispatch flunky paid to elicit more clicks in response.Bully4you wrote: ↑28 Apr 2025 10:35 amOh here we go!!!!!!!!Cranny wrote: ↑28 Apr 2025 10:31 amUnfortunately, small to mid market teams can’t spend like the big dogs. Not sucking up to anything. Just looking at the reality of the situation. Have you noticed the payrolls of the “big dogs” like the Dodgers and Mets? Do you really think the Cardinals can afford that?Bully4you wrote: ↑28 Apr 2025 10:35 amOh here we go!!!!!!!!Cranny wrote: ↑28 Apr 2025 10:31 amUnfortunately, small to mid market teams can’t spend like the big dogs. factored into this "Business Model" equation?
I mean jeezz...You'd think the owner would
have a wee bit of pride in the team,
but he appears to be completely devoid of
any pride. He prides himself on increasing
net worth. Again, total and complete doosh.

You can add Tank and Pouty to that list. {I can do stupid nicknames too}Hazelwood72 wrote: ↑28 Apr 2025 10:41 amCranny is either a front office flunky or a Post-Dispatch flunky paid to elicit more clicks in response.Bully4you wrote: ↑28 Apr 2025 10:35 amOh here we go!!!!!!!!Cranny wrote: ↑28 Apr 2025 10:31 amUnfortunately, small to mid market teams can’t spend like the big dogs. No opinion on Cranny’s status…
I do, however, get the sense he understands the math of comparable revenue streams…
There are only a few “big dog” markets in MLB
And St. Louis is not one of them….

Where there's a will, there's a way.
deWitt hasn't the will.
He could have done more long ago.
Really sad. This could be at least a
$230M payroll outfit.
Re: Farm Reliant dEwitt: Dude, IF YOU WANT TO BE A BIG DOG, THEN SPEND BIG DOG DOLLARS!
Jackson Churio (Brewers) signed as international amatuer free agent in 2021. We all know how he has developed.
Cardinals in 2021 signed Adari Grant and Barnal. We all know how that has worked out.
Strange Brewers do more with less. How did they miss Churio. Doubt he picked Brewers cus of the Milwaukee winters.
Absolutely right - if your not going to play with "big dogs" go to the sandbox and play with the people that eat sand. Also charge fans for providing sandlot quality team not a MLB team.

As an example:
The KC Royal are at $133M
The Cards are at $149M
$16M difference between the two.
And we're talking KC Royals gentlemen.

Then perhaps it was very stupid to undercut and understaff the scouting and development side to the extent that they didCranny wrote: ↑28 Apr 2025 10:31 amUnfortunately, small to mid market teams can’t spend like the big dogs.
