The decision makers in this organization are brain dead. This outfit would finish below. 500 with the 2004 roster all in their prime. These dumb[ash] would've demoted Yadi for not hitting, moved Edmonds to 2nd base, and would've told Albert to hit left-handed.

They want him playing everyday. Barrero also showing promise at AAA but will swing and miss.
Thanks for sharing the news. I’m not sure what to think this team needs OPS.
Easy. Nado is going to play every day. Three of Donovan, Noot, Gorman and Burleson are going to play every day in DH, 2B and LF. With Winn back and Gorman healthy there simply isn't enough playing time for Saggese and he needs to play every day.

He got a taste and wasn't overmatched. Let him get more confident and beat down the door making him first up after trades are made and positions opened. Or one of the above fails and he gets the next shot.
Common sense doesn't apply here with the whiners.

I think Nado still being here somewhat interferes with that strategy, for now. They thought they would have another roster spot available for a Yute. Hence, the MEM infielder shuttle.
Correct it’s the Arenado problem. The infield is a log jam.
None of them are better than Nado however.

This whole season's strategy is non-sensicle, thinking a 34 yo is too old to contribute and thinking a billionaire can't afford to compete.

Sucks for him, but probably the right move. Couldn't trade Arenado, so where's he going to get the ABs? He's not going to get starts over Walker or Gorman right now. And when Herrera comes back soon, there's going to be an even bigger log jam. Yea, Baker has sucked, but he's here for one reason, and that is to take ABs off the bench against lefties. That's not a good role for Saggese.

And as good as he played, I'm not 100% convinced that there's nothing else he needs to prove before he's given a spot. Witness over the years however many Cardinals prospects we've seen come up hot and then fizzle out the next few years. So, like it or not, he's first on the list to be sent down.

He should take what he learned up here back down to Memphis, tear it up down there, and they'll be a spot for him either at the end of the year or next year.

All that said, I'm curious to see how Barrero does. It's nice to have a RHB that can play CF as well as anywhere on the IF. Will he hit? I have my doubts, but I don't think he has any options, so it's either produce or he goes somewhere else (maybe). Aren't the Cuban players supposedly a little slower to develop at the MLB level for some reason? Maybe we'll get lucky and he'll find whatever he's been missing the last few years.

It was a bad move. He earned a spot on the Major League roster. There is nothing else to prove. It's not the way to reward a player who has shown he belongs.

Baker adds nothing. Nothing.
Happy for Barrero though.

Baker is a total waste of a roster spot.

I get Saggese needs AB's but if we had a competent Manager he could get into 3-4 games per week in place of Bumbles/Baker who have no upside.

Yep, it’s sad that we send down one of the few players with an OPS above .800 in order to keep a 285 pound career .338 SLG% player. Saggese has gotten on base in every start (11) he’s had this season. But we can’t find a place for him?

Punish the kid who's doing well, keep a 28 year old career minor leaguer w/no upside. ::crazya::

Saggese could've spelled NADO/3B, Winn/SS and Donovan/2B one game a week to keep them fresh, DH'd vs LHSP (.364 BA) since he's a much better hitter than Baker.

The Mo way, can't wait for the idiot to be gone along w/his pitiful Manager.

How they averaged 90 wins from 2008-2022 is shocking. Or 1 losing season since 2007.

I'm also not happy about it, but I can squint and see the logic.

Saggese is likely going to be a regular soon for this club. His biggest weakness is his defense. He needs more reps. Maybe the AAA gives him that. He's 23, so he's got time.

What year is it now? Why stop at 2022? Or are you living in the past?

So watching an old mediocre player put up middling numbers on a losing team takes precedent over playing the YUTES they promised
What does BDW, Fans, YUTES get out of playing mediocre vets on their way to a losing record??
Very simple solution. Sit them….eventually NA will broaden his team list and WC/Gray will waive their NTC. Too simple I suppose……

It's not about rewarding a player. It's about development. He cannot develop with the occasional spot start here in St. Louis.

Look, he's 23. Let him hit everyday in Memphis. Let him refine his fielding. Don't call him up until he can be handed an everyday job whether that's at second, third, DH, or somewhere else.

This... plus someone will be hurt within a month and he will be the first IFer they call up. Gorman's back or something and then Saggese will get another shot.

Meanwhile we’ll get the pleasure of watching Baker and Burleson take at bats. :x

Saggese had an .875 OPS in AAA this year and .876 OPS in the MLB. He was decent in spring, great in the AFL. Had a great finish in AAA last year and a struggle but learning process in the MLB last year just like Winn in 2023 before his breakout in 2024 and VS2 in 2024 before his much better play in 2025.
