How will that improve him ?
So he hits .300. + vs those guys, will fans say ooooh look at that he is really tearing the cover off thr ball.
Then he is brought up again ti face the best pitchers in the world. He was doing decent now.
Well… he needs better selectivity / swing decisions. He had good results but process didn’t match. It’s good that he had some early success to build upon.

They want him playing everyday. Barrero also showing promise at AAA but will swing and miss.
Thanks for sharing the news. I’m not sure what to think this team needs OPS.
Easy. Nado is going to play every day. Three of Donovan, Noot, Gorman and Burleson are going to play every day in DH, 2B and LF. With Winn back and Gorman healthy there simply isn't enough playing time for Saggese and he needs to play every day.

He got a taste and wasn't overmatched. Let him get more confident and beat down the door making him first up after trades are made and positions opened. Or one of the above fails and he gets the next shot.

He's not been overmatched at any level. He's ready

There is a school of thought, and I'm not saying I agree, but some people would say that a player hitting almost .350 in the MAJOR Leagues should play every day, in the Major Leagues.

NYCardsFan wrote: 27 Apr 2025 19:42 pm All things considered, seems reasonable to me. In a very small sample (40 PAs), he had some pretty good batted-ball luck that somewhat inflated his BA, but it's been normalizing as the (still small) sample grows. Coming into today, his BABIP was .464 and his statcast xBA was .299--which is not bad, but it's not particularly good when combined with a 2.5% BB-rate (1 BB) and 39% O-swing%.

The main things he needs to work on in AAA are the same as last year: plate discipline, chase rate, drawing more BBs, and defense.

Probably will be better for his development to get regular playing time.
Yeah, that sky high BABIP and extremely low BB rate scream regression.

Agreed. But there isn't an every day place for him now. Wait. Either someone will be injured again. Or Nado is traded. Or Gorman continues to fail or Burleson fails and then there is an opening for him. In any case there isn't a position he can get an extended trial now.

This is the type of move a team not playing to win this year makes. If they were they would move Baker down.

Agreed, what good is a 285 pound DH with a career .338 SLG%?

Ready for him and Burleson to no longer hold roster spots.

Well I predicted a 78 win team. An d I think now I was high. If they are in a clear out of playoff position at the ALL Star break I expect a lot of movement. Players like Baker, Burleson, Siani, Gorman will have had their chance to showcase their ceiling and whoever fails could be traded. As well as Nado, Fedde and Helsley. Cards promote a lot of guys and probably lose even more but truly shake out the minor league players. Might also get some entry level prospects who get a taste.

The fact the fans are staying away now means there will be no more point in pretending and they can do a full scale tear down.

Heres a tought. Give him everyday at bats here. Send burly or walker.to memphis- the guys who arent hitting. Why bench then demote the guy who is?

Perhaps saggese should be playing over burly and gorman considering hes way outhit them. Just a thought. Maybe one of them deserves the demotion. Or walker with donovan to outfield.

Why do gorman and burleson deserve trials over him right now? Burleson has had 3 year trial.

I wouldn’t give up on them too quickly yet, they still could be at least a 78 win team. Their SP has been good enough for the most part. A few of the bats have played well, with still some room for others to improve and they’ve been without Herrera. Even with the loss today they took 2 of 3 from Milwaukee, which is a better start vs them than last year. I’m still cautiously optimistic, but there are certain pieces that need to be changed out. Unfortunately I don’t think switching out Saggese for Barrera is a positive move.

Do people look at stats before making such foolish claims? 875 OPS last year in AAA and the fall league he was over 1000. 1000 OPS in AA the year before and in Frisco AA 890 something.

The guy should be playing everyday.
