if only one of Cards/Blues could win today, I'm glad it was the Blues.
they needed a win way more than the Cards.

Not a good effort today as a team. Bright spot was Svanson getting a shot, perhaps Oliver will remember him in a future time of need.

Difference today for Brewerd offense was ‘. Their batted balls found the holes and IOFgrass.
The saying ‘you gotta hit ‘em where thru ain’t’
I’m first two games Brewerd had many batted balls that were not landing for hits.. examples. Hot line shots by Hoskins and Tirana
Nado snaring liners, Scott diving catch, deflection off Gray yo Saggese, etc
Today thr hard hog balls found the spaces.
Happens to all teams. Good 2 out of 3 fir Cardinals.

They just don't have enough elite offense to overcome poor SP or a so-so BP. Granted 7 runs is lot to overcome. But, if Fedde only gives up 4/5 runs in 5.2. It's not a good, start, but a good offense can bail them out.
As I said in other thread, they simply don't have enough elite talent in one or two areas of the game to win enough games or win a playoff series. Their offense while better, cannot be counted on to rescue them from bad starts. Their BP isn't necessarily good enough to put away QS from the SP. They have some good SP, but not sure they have the 1/2/3 punch to win enough games when the offense is having low scoring games.
They are not the Rockies or White Sox. They clearly have some promising talent on their roster. They simply just don't have enough elite talent, especially concentrated, to be a contender or playoff risk if they do find a way somehow to sneak in. That has been the case for a number of years.
