I agree. Changing a lineup after a big win is odd.
I get the feeling Texier, the only player raised in France to play in the NHL for at least a year, is nowhere near the locker room presence Joseph is. Joseph will bang hard and has dropped the gloves at least once and it gave the team a lift when he did. Joseph gave us Jobu, I hear, and that is significant even as it is superstitious.
Just spitballing’ when I don’t grasp a more obvious reason.
As of 5 hours ago, all I've been able to find is "Joseph may be in for Texier in Game 4." Nothing definitive yet, but it is surprising, because it doesn't appear to be because of injury. And I agree I just don't understand why you'd change your lineup after the most dominant win against the Jets all season. I love Joseph's game when he's on but he has shown to be a defensive liability at times.

Oh well, will shall see.
Joseph took Texier’s spot in line rushes in practice. Then the press asked Monty about it afterward and he didn’t deny it.

So no, not guaranteed but it seems pretty darn likely Joseph will be in for Tex.

I for one would’ve kept Tex in there as I thought he had a good game but also not going to doubt Monty. I’m sure he has his reasons.

What ever the call it's likely a hard one for Monty too.

With Blues pp cooking as it is Jets need to walk a fine line on aggressive play versus avoiding penalties.

Since Joseph is the more physical and a defensive player who blocks shots, and still one of our fastest skaters, I think The Jets will be
even more aggressive today and we’ll need more defense than potential offense (which neither player could provide this season.

He took a couple late hits and then was penalized twice (only one led to a PK), but I wonder if the thought is Joseph can come in and provide a little more “cover” for Bolduc and may know when to stop before crossing the line and ending up in the penalty box.
I think that plus Monty is keeping them motivated by swapping them out.

That is as valid a reason as any of the ones given.

A great Coach keeps the whole room involved and Joseph has been as involved as anyone can be who is not a headline-grabbing star.

Even though Texier has, obviously, not brought a consistent game that would allow him to dress and play in the majority of games, Monty never avoids a chance to pump his tires. That matters to the team as a single entity.

Monty will give deserving players the chance to help the team win a game. It’s not viewed as better or worse talent or effort. Just different “attributes” which fit some situations better than others.

To paraphrase what the kid said to Karl Childers,”I like the way he talks”.

The noon start is probably why Joseph is in today. Monty is going to want to get the physicality going again…might be hard with the noon start to replicate it. Joseph will be fired up and ready to go. Strategic strike from Monty.

Not a bad thought. Sometimes it’s hard to get going for an afternoon game. These guys are used to their routine and then in spring it all gets thrown out the window.

In any event, swapping 3rd line LWs shouldn’t really be what decides the game but I guess we’ll see. It’s good to keep both guys on their toes and involved. And I’m pretty sure Joseph is the one that brought Jobu into the room so maybe still will make Jobu happy too.

Lost in the onslaught.
It was the goal that put his team ahead to stay.
He does look like he is out of position out there sometimes, but he has great vision and anticipation.

It would be awesome to see him rifle one in.

Texier played another solid game and was special on the go-ahead goal by Tucker.

First, he made a nice play at the blue line to keep the puck in, then along the boards, won a battle and managed while being checked to shovel it back to Leddy one-handed. Leddy then passed to Tucker, who ripped it past Hellesuck. A very nice sequence for Texier. And a shoutout to Sunny for the dirty work screen in front of the net.

Sunny is still made for playoff hockey. Tough and smart.

Honestly, there was a point where I thought he was cooked. Proving me wrong and I love it!

Yeah, he has lost a step, but I love seeing him out there when the going gets tough...and rough.
