From the relegated league to league championship series in a single year. Silfverberg is still good.
They will play Lulea or Frolunda which is 2-2 through 4 games.
Turned 20yo in Jan, has gotten significant experience in this second round.
1 goal, 3 assists, 11 GP +6 through two rounds getting 6th most D minutes for his team.
Two paths – if he stays in the SHL I won't be thrilled but he needs to be at least second pairing. Other path is camp Sept 2025 with a likely start in Springfield. A big question on LHD right now is what happens with Ryan Suter next year.

Brynas has 2 former NHL'ers(Soderstrom and Djoos) and 5 former AHL'ers(Kinnvall, Vessel, Axelsson, D'Astous and Bengstrom) on their roster.
That's not exactly an easy D corps to break in to, and Lindstein is out-playing half that group despite being 4 years younger than the next youngest guy(Soderstrom is 24 years old).
The SHL is not some pissant Jr league. The talent level is every bit on the same level as the AHL. They aren't there to develop prospects.

Re: Theo Lindstein
Not a good sign? He’s on the best team in the SHL and is finishing up his 19 year old season. Sure, being 1st or 2nd in icetime on the team would be even better but you have to understand the context. He’s playing regular minutes in one of the best pro leagues in the world at age 19-20. It’s pretty much equivalent to playing in the AHL at 19-20. This isn’t Jrs or college.Chubbs0910 wrote: ↑23 Apr 2025 23:37 pmOK.. 6th most D minutes is a weird way to say next to last among dmen.STL fan in MN wrote: ↑23 Apr 2025 19:17 pmBecause it’s not. LOL what a Swedish meltdown by Lindstein's opponent. That was a devolvement. Lulea embitched themselves at the end of a game they had tied 3-3 in the third period on home ice. Frederick Allard disgraced himself. No wonder he is not in the NHL.
Lindstein got defensive minutes that were between 5th most and 7th most on his team, just trying to be as weird as possible saying that. Series is tied 2-2 now.
One thing I notice watching is Lindstein is often more open in the o-zone than he is utilized by his current teammates. But on a future Blues team there are passers with much better vision and ability than his Brynas teammates. There are times when the obvious play is to give it to Lindstein, not necessarily for a point shot but he has so much open ice he can distribute anywhere. In this contest, they were defending a one-goal lead for the latter half of the third period and that's where Lindstein is so poised and helpful.

Fantastic post... Actually in some areas of defensive play (because of the larger ice surface) in SHL experience is superior to the AHL, primarily in defensive mobility and the ability to defend in space. In contrary, the smaller surface in the AHL challenges defenders to think "quicker" and size/leverage becomes more important.kimzey59 wrote: ↑24 Apr 2025 01:08 amIt's impressive that he's on the team at all.Chubbs0910 wrote: ↑23 Apr 2025 23:37 pmOK.. 6th most D minutes is a weird way to say next to last among dmen.STL fan in MN wrote: ↑23 Apr 2025 19:17 pmBecause it’s not. Both great leagues, and both are solid proving grounds for the NHL development arch.
What stands out to me regarding Lindstein is his balance and leverage. Fantastic base which allows him to flow in all eight points of direction, and when you add that to his IQ it turns him into a real challenge to overcome. Just a great prospect that's exceeded my expectations.

Let me describe what Allard and his home crowd did. Lulea (Allard's team) is in the attacking zone. They are behind 4-3 and trying to work the puck into the box. It gets deflected by a good defensive play toward the open point, and both players race with their backs to the goal toward the blue line to get the puck. The two players slash sticks as they reach for it. Allard's stick does not break, but he drops it. He now expects, demands, insists on a call, which he didn't get and objectively should not get unless you are playing by the worst kind of playoff reffing. He responds to this by immediately throwing his arms as wide as they can go and spending the next 20 seconds skating around the ice while the play continued with no stick, no trying to get a stick, just his arms flailed open screaming at the ref. The Swedish crowd also melts down. There are men in the stands apoplectic. I was in awe of how weak it was. Then while trailing and trying to catch up they started two hand slashing, blatant cross checking Brynas players in front of the refs. I just can't imagine an NHL team in a playoff game down a goal with 3 minutes to play and pressing for the tying goal, in the actual championship finals series, absolutely lose their [shirt] and start fouling the defensive players in front of the refs so that they end the game 3-on-5. And that was the reason I put the adjective "Swedish" in there thank you for allowing me to clarify.

Great explanation of his smooth poise. You can tell he needs to put on a little more weight like most younger players, but the natural process will turn this player into a real glue player on the backend. What do you see for him next year?Hockey Pete wrote: ↑26 Apr 2025 11:38 am What stands out to me regarding Lindstein is his balance and leverage. Ah, gotcha. That is some embarrassing baby [shirt] right there. But as you point out, it’s not just Swedes that do that cr@p now these days. I 100% remember the Finns in that WJC semi and 100% agree with you. It was a disgrace to the game of hockey. But it’s becoming all too common in all facets of the game. Maybe not the full on skating around with your hands up for 20 seconds but diving is getting really bad. It’s why I just can’t get into soccer. But players do it because it works and they get PPs out of it. I hate it so much I’d be in favor of increasing the fines the players get now and even suspending players for egregious dives. I want to nip that in the bud so much as I don’t want hockey to become anything close to what happened to soccer. Loses all honor.seattleblue wrote: ↑26 Apr 2025 11:52 amGreat question lol. Very well said. His mobility combined with his IQ is a fanatic combo. He’s not going to make plays that’ll bring players to the edge of their seats but he’ll be the one coming out of the corner with the puck more of them than not, making a great outlet, making a great read to break up a play etc. All the little things that lead to winning hockey.Hockey Pete wrote: ↑26 Apr 2025 11:38 amFantastic post... And very good point on SHL vs AHL as yeah, the d-men there have a larger area to cover…but that also leads to fewer physical confrontations. Probably a great place for him to be as he develops from a teenager’s body to a man’s body and then transition to the AHL when he’s a bit more physically mature (which is hopefully September/October of this year IMO).

I have always lacked respect for Bruin fans who point to G5 missed call as how they got screwed in a factual situation where an identical uncalled play occurred exactly 10 minutes of game action earlier while the Blues led 1-0 in the third period of that game.
Marchand's trip of Paryako could not possibly parallel the trip on Acciari more, and neither was called. The only difference here is you don't see Parayko laying on the ice and the Blues stop playing like the Bruins stopped playing. They stopped playing and the Blues didn't because the Blues wanted that championship more and were the better team. It's weak of Bruin fans to overlook the consistent reffing in favor of a narrative where the Blues stole something undeserved, but not Euro-Scandinavia weak.

The way the Finns advanced past the Swedes in the WJC semis this year. A pure diving disgrace of a win.STL fan in MN wrote: ↑26 Apr 2025 11:40 amWhat’s the difference between a meltdown and a Swedish meltdown?seattleblue wrote: ↑26 Apr 2025 10:50 am LOL what a Swedish meltdown by Lindstein's opponent.
Wasn’t able to catch this one but glad to hear Lindstein was his normal self and Brynas was able to tie the series.
Oh! I thought one had rice in them and the other didn't...
