The two paragraphs below sum up and reinforce Army's sentiment that you want to foster a winning culture and not go on a protracted rebuild, perhaps cementing a players mindset. You want to teach a player how to win, not get them used to losing.
“I think as a player, it wears on you a little bit when you’re when you’re not having the success that you want as a team,” he said. “It’s always hard to really feel like you’re having any individual success or you’re growing. So that definitely did wear on me quite a bit. It was never something where I didn’t think that I couldn’t play anymore, that I had lost my confidence to play, but it really was just a situation where I felt maybe a change was necessary so that I could kind of reinvigorate things. And not just for me too, but for Anaheim as well, like it was just time to move on so.
“And then I got here, and I got comfortable with the team and the system, and got a great opportunity to play, and I was able to prove to myself I still have a lot of hockey left in me. And I think when you’re going through those spells on a team that’s not having success, it’s hard to have that mindset, just for anybody. So that’s really just a situation that I was in.”

Losing locker rooms can be miserable work environments.
Fowler's playoff ppg are better than another famous Blues Defender. He is that good of an offensive Dman.

Word is what a great person and mate Cam has been for the locker room as well.
It's been reported by many over and over all year how this team likes each other and play for each other and it's a big part of the success they have had.

Thanks for the post jwstlsan. I appreciate all the guys on the team coming together, we have a good organization to boot. Cam is just one of those players that can make a huge contribution to the right team, and we needed someone like him for the boost.

Re: Cam Fowler article today (4/26/25)
It was a nice article. I was a bit shocked by this tidbit.
On Thursday in Game 3, Fowler had one of the best offensive playoff games for an NHL defenseman, recording five points on four assists and an impressive goal, a point total exceeded in the playoffs exactly once, by Edmonton’s Paul Coffey, and matched by just seven other players, only one of them, Cole Makar, doing it in the past 30 years.
Good on Fowler for this. He is no Coffey or Makar has definately elevated the Blues play on the back end.

Fowler is what Krug was advertised to be
Win one more game Sunday and it’s anyone’s series. Lose Game 4, it was a nice season after all once the 4 Nation’s tourney ended. I think if we get down 3 games to 1 and go to Winnipeg it would be too big a hole to climb out of.

I would limit that to offense. I'm not believing anyone rated Krug and Fowler at the same level defensively, or did they? Big mistake if they did.Russdv14 wrote: ↑26 Apr 2025 15:24 pm Fowler is what Krug was advertised to be

Fowler was a mid-season surprise, he wasn't "advertised" (promoted) by the organization like Krug was during the offseason when he was signed. Fowler also didn't come in with Pietrangelo's empty shoes still fresh on the shelf.
I never harbored any ill will towards Krug. He was a player with obvious limitations who I think tried his best. Fowler on the other hand is much closer to the complete package for a defenseman.

Re: Cam Fowler article today (4/26/25)
Fowler and Faulk must give us the fourth forward driving the net. The F3 must cover, of course. These Five man units really screw up coverages.
As long as the F3 has his radar on and Parayko and Broberg stay-at--home, we can keep rolling along.

I agree but I do think when Krug was signed the Blues were hoping he’d play a similar role as Fowler currently isDawgDad wrote: ↑26 Apr 2025 15:40 pmI would limit that to offense.
