Starting to think Walker should have played football or basketball. His massive size seems to be disadvantageous at the plate.

Walker is sliding into the abyss.
Last 50 PA's:
1 HR
3 RBI's
.140 .173 .220 .393
Not sure about the rest of you but unless he pulls out of it soon he's headed for "bust" territory as far as being an impact hitter ala D. Carlson etal.

Most of these guys guys can be sent up and down from Memphis to regather themselves. They don't have to struggle in front of huge home crowds of 10,000 fans every day.
Unless of course they are too fragile to continue to work on being an effective MLB player somewhere else.
Barrero has been hot a AAA. He could trade places with someone like Walker, Gorman, Burleson who is not hot.
Later, when things change, we could bring players back up who are playing well again. The world will not end.

If Saggese continues to hit at an impressive clip. And outhits Walker. What do the Cardinals do with Walker?cardstatman wrote: ↑26 Apr 2025 11:08 am Most of these guys guys can be sent up and down from Memphis to regather themselves. How many times can you move players back and forth?cardstatman wrote: ↑26 Apr 2025 11:08 am Most of these guys guys can be sent up and down from Memphis to regather themselves. They don't have to struggle in front of huge home crowds of 10,000 fans every day.

They are in a really tough spot with Walker.
They desperately need him to become a productive player.
But it’s looking more and more like he’s a major bust,

No doubt Walker is nearing bust territory…but he still has an elite skill with his exit velocity that could be unlocked with better coaching and buy-in from the player. He’s 22. It’s a reset year. Unless he continues to crater he should be out there most days to see if he can figure it out. They’ve jerked him around enough the past two years and look at where ifs gotten him.

Since he's 23, they need to be patient. Look at Libby. Their patience is paying off at age 25.Shady wrote: ↑26 Apr 2025 11:23 amIf Saggese continues to hit at an impressive clip. And outhits Walker. Re: Saggese in , Walker sits...Today's Lineup
Alignment Cost us a couple baserunners this inning. Noot in LF should have caught that shallow pop-up and Donny at 2b certainly wouldn't have let Durban take 2nd on a single by not covering the bag like Sagesse just did. Then Donny misses the cutoff man.
Re: Saggese in , Walker sits...Today's Lineup
3rd option year for Walker. If he's not an everyday player by 2026, then there's no place to put him.scoutyjones2 wrote: ↑26 Apr 2025 11:46 amHow many times can you move players back and forth?cardstatman wrote: ↑26 Apr 2025 11:08 am Most of these guys guys can be sent up and down from Memphis to regather themselves. I like Saggese's defense.
Re: Saggese in , Walker sits...Today's Lineup
Once a player isnadded to the 40 man roster, they get 3 option years. They burn an option year by being in the minors for 20 or more days(if you recall them within 20 days after optioning them, they dont lose the option year) excluding rehab assignments.scoutyjones2 wrote: ↑26 Apr 2025 11:46 amHow many times can you move players back and forth?cardstatman wrote: ↑26 Apr 2025 11:08 am Most of these guys guys can be sent up and down from Memphis to regather themselves. Walker was added tonthe 40 man roster in 2023 and optioned back to the minors both of the last 2 years so he has 1 option year remaining.
You can only burn 1 option year in any given year. It doesnt matter how many times you are optioned back and forth that year- you only burn 1 year.
