In light of Liberatore, what to do with Roby?
Roby could probably help the Cardinals bullpen pretty soon. He has a couple outstanding pitches suitable for relief duty. And he's had injury issues in the past. That may be one of the reasons the Rangers included him in the trade. It will be interesting to see if the Cardinals groom him as a starting pitcher or give him some early relief work like they did Liberatore. Just looking ahead. Roby could move ahead of Mathews in getting to the MLB. It is nice to have both these fine pitching prospects coming along.

Libby's success/failure won't move the needle one iota on Roby.
Roby is focusing on being a starter and staying healthy for a full season...for the first time since 2022. He's going to stay with Springfield...they have better training facilities than Memphis.
------
I'll leave it at that, if you can't/won't grasp the straw, there's nothing left to do.

1. They have nothing to do with each other.Shady wrote: ↑26 Apr 2025 11:13 am Roby could probably help the Cardinals bullpen pretty soon. He has a couple outstanding pitches suitable for relief duty. 2. The Cardinals are “grooming” (dumb term, but it’s yours so I’ll use it) as a starter. There is nothing “to see”. He’s starting.

Honest question - why do you incessantly start new threads instead of just continuing discussions from prior threads?Shady wrote: ↑26 Apr 2025 13:58 pmChill. Just talking baseball. Especially, a young player that could be special.NYCardsFan wrote: ↑26 Apr 2025 12:58 pm It just never ends . . .

There is a possible correlation between how they plan to develop Roby's role based on how they used Liberatore. An Old Friend wrote: ↑26 Apr 2025 12:27 pm1. I hope there is a correlation in that they realize they were dumb in putting liebratore in bullpen and not letting him develop as a starter so they don’t go dumb with robyShady wrote: ↑26 Apr 2025 14:01 pmThere is a possible correlation between how they plan to develop Roby's role based on how they used Liberatore. An Old Friend wrote: ↑26 Apr 2025 12:27 pm1. My point.
