If BDW isn’t intentionally alienating fan base
someone enlightened me with a real good story about what he’s doing
This narrative that BDW is in the poorhouse because attendance and TV revs are down……someone should tell BDW that Star Players and Winning
Generate sellouts and TV eyes. So perhaps find some of that and not this lame (bleep) story about letting youth play, who probably aren’t that good…..
And then waiting 5-6 yrs for more youth….is this really the plan??

It is the plan. Ol Billy is only worth $3 billion. He's practically homeless. Can't expect him to spend on the roster.

I think DeWitt started turning more control over to his son about 3 years ago and he has slowly stepped back.
It appears that his son doesn't have a real strong desire to get into a world series but really wants to make himself and family alot more money.
Reminds me a little bit of when Gussie Busch son took over the cardinals and then we saw boring non competitive baseball here in St. Louis.

Your assuming he cares enough about the fan base to make the effort to alienate them.Goldfan wrote: ↑24 Apr 2025 19:58 pm someone enlightened me with a real good story about what he’s doing

He and Reinsdorf are cut from the same cloth. Too loyal to guys running their franchise into mediocrity while taking their fan support for granted.Goldfan wrote: ↑24 Apr 2025 19:58 pm someone enlightened me with a real good story about what he’s doing

Wrong. A good business person never takes his customers/clients for granted. An Old Friend wrote: ↑25 Apr 2025 16:49 pmHe and Reinsdorf are cut from the same cloth. I'm not protecting anyone, Red. I just know that the Dewitt family is very conscious of the traditions of the Cardinals, as
they have been in the professional baseball industry from many decades. And have owned the Cardinals through some of the most successful years in the team's history.

He 100% did, which is why attendance and viewership has cratered.Cranny wrote: ↑25 Apr 2025 17:16 pmWrong. This was avoidable.OldRed wrote: ↑25 Apr 2025 17:27 pmProtect him all you want, I believe he has in this case.Cranny wrote: ↑25 Apr 2025 17:16 pmWrong. You don’t go away from the Kissell Cardinals Way
You don’t hire a 35 yr old nobody to manage the team
You don’t allow an obviously clueless POBO to stay employed well past the time he showed he was trending org in the wrong direction
You don’t keep inferior non-productive managers, coaches, scouts, instructors, players because “you don’t want to fire anybody”

Alienation means 20k attendance Friday night against Brewers
Rows and rows of empty seats

Re: If BDW isn’t intentionally alienating fan base
We are 9-4 at Busch. What do the hometown fans have to complain about with that?
Re: If BDW isn’t intentionally alienating fan base
How many losing seasons in the last decade? And did they take the fans for granted when they traded for Ozuna? When they traded for Goldy? When they traded for Arenado? Sheesh.
Re: If BDW isn’t intentionally alienating fan base
Yes, we've been hearing the "no losing season" argument for a decade. Cleary it's not working. Who would have guessed that being cheap and incompetent could put the fanbase off?
You just named all three of the club's big bat moves over the past decade. Those moves were designed to trick people like you into thinking they are competing. Fortunately more and more people are waking up, hence the empty seats in 2025.
