Most combined hits in NHL game!

Someone posted this on the reddit forum but there has only been 14 times a team has had more than 60 hits. This game the Blues had 63 and Jets 65. The 5th and 7th all time by a team. The 128 has to be the most every combined in a game.

The problem with that is that the NHL didn't start officially tracking hits until 2008.
You had some extremely nasty teams in the 70's. For example; Game 3 of Philly vs Toronto in '76 saw 176 combined penalty minutes. I'd imagine the hits were outlandish as well during the entire series.

I'm not going to say tonight was the most physical game of all time, but it certainly was in the modern era.
And despite winning the hit battle, Winnipeg did not seem to handle the style of play all that well. I'll be curious to see if there are any suspensions handed out after tonight, and even more interested to see if any other Jet's players have broken from the strain(we've already gotten to DeMelo).

During the first intermission, Kelly commented that the Blues had 39 first period hits. 39!! That’s 2 hits a minute for every minute of the period. Insane.
