Did I Hear This right? Blues being down 2 games
I thought I heard the other night that the Blues have been down by two games in the playoffs 18 times and have only come back to win once.
Re: Did I Hear This right? Blues being down 2 games
That sounds probable. I always chuckle at these deep history things because the current team still has never lost a playoff series. The improbable is still possible, they have not lost at home yet.

They mean down 2-0 in a seven game series.
For example off the top of my head they came back from down 3-1 in 1991 against Detroit and from down 3-1 against Phoenix in 1999

The current team (tiny sample size) also is winless in the postseason. That'll change soon though...
The historical hump that the Jets had to get over was winning the first game and then losing four straight.
Both goalies have played in big games but edge to JB.

I don't know if it was being down 2-0 or not. I heard it on the broadcast the other night, but only caught part of it.seattleblue wrote: ↑23 Apr 2025 13:03 pm They mean down 2-0 in a seven game series.

right, I heard them say the same thing. I am qualifying it because they meant down 2-0 even if they weren't particularly clear about it. since there are obviously more than 1 example of coming back from simply being down two games in a series at some pointDroge100 wrote: ↑23 Apr 2025 13:16 pmI don't know if it was being down 2-0 or not. Gosh, I hope you're right. Win or lose, there is immense value in this experience. Winning in the playoffs goes beyond talent.BalotelliMassive wrote: ↑23 Apr 2025 13:12 pmThe current team (tiny sample size) also is winless in the postseason. That'll change soon though...

The boys deserve to hear the cheers from their home crowd for their amazing season turn-around, record setting win streak, and appearance in the playoffs. The crowd deserves to see the team give it their all and play well. More to say when it's all over.

I prefer to think they are 0-0 in a five game series and have home ice advantage.
Except you have to win 4 instead of 3…idk, it sounded cool when I thought of it.
LFGB!!!

Yes, I heard that too and you are correct. They said it on the ESPN broadcast. 1-17 after losing the first two games of the series I believe, not sure if that stat applies to them being down 1-3, 2-4, etc.
Re: Did I Hear This right? Blues being down 2 games
I know odds are better to win a series down 1-2 than 0-3.
What were the odds they'd get into the playoffs on March 15 or even before that?
Go Blue!

Yep- in 1972 they lost the first 2 games in Minnesota.
I remember they played game 3 on a Saturday night, rhen played game 4 on national TV at noon Sunday, with barely 12 hours between games.
That was the series where Kevin O'Shea scored the OT winner in game 7 in Minny

I can guarantee that the Blues have never won a series being down 2-4 LOL (sorry, couldn't pass it up)sneptsmoustache wrote: ↑23 Apr 2025 20:16 pm Yes, I heard that too and you are correct. Just win tonight and the odds adjust accordingly. One game at a time, boys.
Re: Did I Hear This right? Blues being down 2 games
Here are some other interesting stats: When down 3 -0, only four teams out of 211 have come back to win the series. When teams lose the first two games on the road and win game 3, 21 percent have come back to win the series. This is on the whole NHL, not just the Blues.

Math. 0/2 so far. Have to win the next 4/5. Odds are not good. But tonight is not a "must win" game according to comedian Brian Regan. It's a simple math question. He does a pretty funny segment on sports interviews regarding this situation.
