Ole Miss appears to be the leading contender for Travis Perry:

Here's a guy we have been looking at, but again can we afford to bid for him? (He's from Vashon High School in St. Louis)

That depends on the level of YOUR donation to a collective.

Marshall can be a good player, but the sweat will have to roll. Hope he can get it done.

The problem with Davis and why he’s still in the portal is he’s wanting to much money at what his production says.
Here is the report Matt Harris wrote up about Davis.
It's been several weeks since I looked over Kennard Davis' profile, but here is the play-type summary.
A couple of things stand out:
1) Wide Shooting Splits: He shot 23.1 percent on guarded catch-and-shoot 3s versus 51.2 percent on open attempts. In fact, he shot the ball better from deep off the bounce (38.5 3FG%) than he did while stationary with a hand in his face. That's a bit unusual. So, resolving the kind of shot that works best for him will be vital. At a minimum, we know his pull-up 2s are a no-no.
2) Get Home: Trimming out those middies should't be hard, because MU can literally point to Davis' quality as a rim finisher out of high PNRs (1.205 PPP). He's also a load when he doesn't pull up at the arc while running the break. Meanwhile, Davis averaged 1.022 PPP when posting up. Perhaps there are chances to hunt for mismatches against smaller guards.
3) Role Shift: The plurality of Davis' possessions in Carbondale saw him run PNRs (29.9 %), but that won't be the case in Columbia. And in theory, his possessions would be siphoned from Jacob Crews. That means the intention remains developing Annor Boateng. Maybe an extended stay in the portal has shifted Davis' perspective, but it's vital to know if he's fine in more a supplementary role instead of headlining.
4) Getting Skinny: Davis defensive efficiency is, um, fine. He ranked in the 43rd percentile nationally but also below average guarding catch-and-shoot jumpers. I'll have to view the them, but some of that likely stems from issues chasing shooters arounds screens and handoffs. If part of the premise in taking Davis rests on maintaining positional size and solid defense, problems with screen navigation undercut it.
Again, I suspect the reason Davis lingered so long in limbo was his camp priced his serves as a starter-level option. Those guys tend to have a floor between $1M and $1.5M. Clearly, the market viewed him otherwise. And while his raw stat line is impressive, there are legitimate questions about whether it would translate to a P4 habitat.
The other question is need. How many ball handlers does MU know it can trust? Ant and...then. T.O. Barrett will be scaling up minutes. Sebastian Mack's more of a slasher than creator. And Aaron Rowe requires some patience. Meanwhile, adding Davis would give the Tigers the following players taller than 6-foot-6: Davis, Crews, Pierce, Mitchell, Porter, Northweather, Philips, Burns, Randall. That's nine guys. Do you need Davis? Or could Trent Pierce just spend more time at the wing?
We looked over Dylan Darling last night, and the metrics looked great -- in the Big Sky. And he also wants to play the one. That moves Ant off the ball. The same goes for T.O. There might also be concerns about how he translates defensively. But at minimum, it's another set of steady hands.
Basically, does taking Davis solve an issue? Or does it create a log jam, while taking a combo guard would keep the Tigers from blocking up developmental pathways for Barrett and Boateng?
Matt Harris.

What makes you so sure we need that guy? Your understanding of players and what they bring to the table and if they fit is really really narrow. And besides, have you even wondered if what he is asking is the market price for such a player? It’s more than looking at YouTube videos and thinking that guy is great. Those clips on YouTube can even make you or anyone look like all world. If you really want to know the skinny on players…any player, subscribe to one or 2 of those sites that post actual stats of players..the kind of stats you won’t find listed on their school stat. Coaches even use these sites to find the real worth of a player and how much on floor value they really bring.TheMajicMan wrote: ↑23 Apr 2025 17:33 pm Here's a guy we have been looking at, but again can we afford to bid for him? I thought for sure I would open this thread and there would be a picture of some BBQ Rib Place.

I didn't say that we needed him. He was on Mizzou's list of players that they were interested in and contacted. You need to read what I said and don't interpret something else. This was an article by Matt Harris from Rock M Nation who I see that you are very familiar with. He was saying that Mizzou could use him. Read before you accuse me of looking at highlights. I judge players from watching full game videos.
Re: Peyton Marshall has found a home at......
Ok…fair enough. But no one is going to sign that guy for $1m asking price. He’s not a starter in HM ball. If Mizzou wants to spend upwards of of $700,000 they could hit up the donors, or pool the money together from 2 spots and only have 14 players rather than 15. It’s not a matter of if Mizzou can afford them, it’s a matter of do Gates want to spend that much on a player and take a chance of having an angry player now that portal is closed whom we have already. Suppose Gates does give Davis $1.5 m. And Ant is only getting $900.000. How does that sit well with Ant?You best believe $700.000 or more is starters money…..Davis would come in as a combo and he would be used mostly as a spacer. If you’ve noticed, Mizzou doesn’t have a floor spacer on the roster….we need a CG who can consistently space the floorTheMajicMan wrote: ↑23 Apr 2025 21:14 pmRantz wrote: ↑23 Apr 2025 20:04 pmWhat makes you so sure we need that guy?
