I saw some Winnipeg players laying on the ice after being rocked pretty good too. I believe it hurts those humans too. I just thought it was worth mentioning with these two games being played about as close as you can get. I hope our boys have to play the next round, but if it's Winnipeg, I don't believe they'll be going into it unscathed.

Also - Monty said it after the game. The difference in this series has been that their star players have made plays and ours haven't. I"m looking squarely at Thomas and Buchnevich--particularly Buchnevich--if I'm going to point the finger at anyone. One goal in 22 playoff career playoff games. And no one rocked him, He's just straight up not having an impact on the game. Scheiffle and Connor are.
Newsflash:

Other teams best players will almost always outperform ours--for the foreseeable future. Why? Because they have higher draft picks on Line 1. Army doesn't believe in aiming for high picks in the draft. He stays competitive by bringing in the Fowlers and the Faksas instead of playing the young prospects in the organization.

So when you head to the rink to watch the playoffs, just don't forget that little "gotcha" that comes along with Army's approach. You gotta take the bad with the good.

And don't get me started about the impact to kids wanting jerseys.

Without question, the 2nd tier of stars will arrive at the Blues doorstep down the line. The guys who are under-performing their draft status, or in situations where their age is beyond the win zone for the club.

Just don't count on the highest stars in the NHL sky ever being in St Louis
Ovechkin
McDavid
Draisitl
Matthews
Makar
McKinnon
etc. etc. etc.

So don't let anyone tell you differently. The McDavid's and Draisitl's will ALWAYS AND FOREVER outscore the Thomas's and Kyrou's. It's called the laws of nature and sports. Superstars score more than anyone else. That's what make them superstars.

We have to live in the real world, folks.

But you're being so doctrinaire about this top 5 pick thing. Where were Schenn & Bouwmeester picked?

Hofer, Tucker, Broberg, Holloway, Neighbours, Bolduc and Snuggerud are all under 25.

What's more, coach picks the playing lineup, not GM.

Finally, you said you were leaving Blues Talk. Apparently not, and I guess that's also Armstrong's fault.

You missed the caveat that I mentioned.

Some TOP 5 picks don't ever reach their superstar status. In those cases, teams trade them away to another team on a cup run, especially when they get older.

As an example...
Douglas P Army tried to trade off Schenn--EVEN THOUGH he had a no-trade-clause, and EVEN THOUGH he was the Captain at the Trade Deadline.

That kind of TOP 5 picks are NOT THE KIND that outscore the other side!!! We have them now, and we will have them in the future -- OFTEN!!!

These six mentioned players

Ovechkin
McDavid
Draisitl
Matthews
Makar
McKinnon

at the moment, subject to change, have a combined 2 Cups, three names engraved a single time

just to point out if we're being fair here the league with 32 teams and a cap means if you don't have one of the top superstars you don't just give up and lose til you luck out with the RIGHT #1 overall pick that four of those six guys were, that is a terrible strategy. you work with what you have.

I was accused of leaving BluesTalk BECAUSE the Blues were doing so well. They said that "I was running away", etc.

So I had to come back to reiterate my fervent opinions -- DESPITE THE 12-Game win streak. No way that I'm running away from anything.

I predicted at least a month ago that the Blues would be lucky to win 1 game in the playoffs--if we made the playoffs.

I also made the observation that I am Douglas Army's sock on BluesTalk. Army attempted to trade away our Captain at the trade deadline. No GM would do that IF HE FELT LIKE HIS TEAM HAD A CHANCE IN THE PLAYOFFS.

My prediction matches our GM's prediction. Many people on BluesTalk do not listen to what their GM says. I follow his words very closely.

Maybe your perspective on how you discuss this would change if you thought about how there's really about 100-150 people regularly here some who post more than others, and your voice is louder on this subject than you think it is because everyone's familiar with it being shouted. You are on record and you are seen.

I said the other day I am trying to channel Jules. Vincent Vega wants to shoot you on general principle. Being a Jules-like hypocrite myself I am saying I'll humor you, I'll give you my wallet. But you can't have what's in the case. You try to take what's in the case and then I'll point out you're being a lot more Hunny Bunny about this argument than a cool Ringo.

Many people, yourself included, are very fast to point out that TOP 5 picks often do not pan out. The picks fall short of ever reaching superstar status.

I am 1000% on board with this!!! My eyes are very wide open on this.

These same people, however, fail to extrapolate out their findings like ASOGG does.

ASOGG Extrapolation:
The draft failures are way more chronic AFTER the TOP 5 picks!

Despite this exceptionally ugly fact, my brothers are undeterred in their belief that it's only a matter of time before Dvorsky, Lindstein, and Stenberg are high impact players for the Blues. They are counting them chickens before they are hatched, and before they are even high impact players in the minor leagues.

Your alternative plan for tanking until they have one of the #1 picks that comes along every once in awhile who's truly legendarily great is a horrendous strategy and it's unworkable. It's crazy. Be the #1 pick and hope it's not one of the years without a true league-dominant player? It's playing with fantasy. It's all hypothetical. It's also not going to happen so throwing out a poorly reasoned argument over and over and over is why people are fed up. You and I both know what you are doing. Stop doing it please. You don't have to listen to me it's a polite request. They want you to stop and at this point I am pretty much the only person treating your arguments seriously, They so wonder why I'm doing it so much that the stupidest trolls among them are still brainworming about it I had one just this morning. I have been cool with you and so you know I'm being real with you here.

We got it, trust us. Doug Armstrong is stupid because he has not guided the team to the correct #1 overall pick, not even a lesser top 5 pick, like one of the elite #1 overalls. It's a bad argument man.

I wish that people would quit claiming falsely that I am for "tanking".

I'll reiterate.

1) I want Army to play the youngsters instead of bringing in the Fowlers and the Faksas. Fowler and Faksa have no chance of being around when the Blues make another run at the Cup. Will they tank as a result? Maybe. Maybe not. Army's approach guarantees that we will WIN more games utilizing short-term answers.

2) All teams win between 40 and 60%. The teams that win Ovechkin for 20 years, lose about 15 more games that 1 year than the winningest teams. Small price to pay IMO.

Thanks for chatting with me, but if you feel that it's too much, just tune me out. My off-season is hosed - AGAIN -- as I watch the best players go to other cities. If you or anyone else is looking for a happy-ear, you're not going to find it with me. I'm mad as hell.

If you don't listen to me, at least do yourself a favor and listen to your GM.

Need to get two in the Lou!!
LGB’s!!!
Exactly the reason Berube and Kyrou didn't see eye-to-eye. It's one thing to be a star in the regular season, but it takes a different mindset in the post season and it looks like Kyrou doesn't want to go there.
Here is that (bleep) grinder fetish again. He has 8 goals in his last 14 playoff games. That is pretty (bleep) good.

He isn't a physical player. Not everyone has to be. He is paid to score, and he does.

If anything we need bigger guys out there. We can't be relying on Kyrou to be a grinder. That is not his game.

Not to mention, do you really want Kyrou separating his shoulder banging the corners? As you said, he’s paid to score.
It’s funny, a couple years ago people were like all we want is for him to play some D, get in someone’s way, get a stick in the lane. Well, he’s doing that now, and the goalposts have moved, that’s no longer good enough.
