Blues best defensive prospect just advanced to the SHL final in 5 games over Sandin-Pelikka's team.
From the relegated league to league championship series in a single year. Silfverberg is still good.
They will play Lulea or Frolunda which is 2-2 through 4 games.
Turned 20yo in Jan, has gotten significant experience in this second round.
1 goal, 3 assists, 11 GP +6 through two rounds getting 6th most D minutes for his team.
Two paths – if he stays in the SHL I won't be thrilled but he needs to be at least second pairing. Other path is camp Sept 2025 with a likely start in Springfield. A big question on LHD right now is what happens with Ryan Suter next year.
(ASP is Detroit's Lane Hutson, wow)

Has he been playing more? Sounds like it……but I remember you mentioning that his ice time had been reduced for a while.

Sandin-Pellikka is a ridiculous player. Looking forward to seeing him play in Detroit

Re: Theo Lindstein
He had some token minutes in a couple games of the first round. During the season I saw him get up to 20 min sometimes but rarely, it was usually in the 14-17 min range. Like today. He had just over 15 min.Frank Underwood wrote: ↑12 Apr 2025 10:49 am Has he been playing more? Sounds like it……but I remember you mentioning that his ice time had been reduced for a while.
He is the unsexiest thing for a defenseman which is just a well-positioned payer who relentlessly makes the boring correct play. They key is it's the correct play, I have seen him make a few mistakes but they are of the sporadic, this-can-happen-to-any-defenseman type, not systematic.

He was Makaring it up out there trying to pull his team of grown men team back from elimination. True o-zone QBPierre McGuire wrote: ↑12 Apr 2025 10:52 am Sandin-Pellikka is a ridiculous player. Looking forward to seeing him play in Detroit

I’ll be surprised if he doesn’t come over and play in Springfield. Sounds like he’s been in a pretty tight leash all year. I’m sure the Blues would like to see him get 20 mins a game by now. Also think he has some decent offensive potential as he develops.

I am just so impressed with his defensive zone play. He is seemingly always in the right spot. Makes the most efficient little play and they're out of their zone. He is only getting third pairing defenseman minutes (he gets a regular shift). But he looks completely calm in the moment, looks like he belongs.
Currently Brynas 1, Lulea 1 after 1 in Game 3, series tied at 1.

I’m also watching on onhockey but sporadically as also have to work a bit. Yep, he’s just calm. Sticking with my Brodin comp. Hoping he can be that sort of player for us. Not a superstar but that solid #2-3 guy that eats a ton of minutes, makes the right play almost every time and has a 15ish year career can be oh so valuable.seattleblue wrote: ↑23 Apr 2025 13:34 pm I am just so impressed with his defensive zone play. The word was his defensive game was NHL ready on draft day, just the rest of him wasn't.

Great passer, skater, shot looks good and has a calmness to his game. He always seemed to defer to others in the O Zone though. If all he ends up being is a 20-30 point D that’s really good in his own zone and can transition the puck quickly the other way it’s a win for the Blues.seattleblue wrote: ↑23 Apr 2025 13:34 pm I am just so impressed with his defensive zone play. Re: Theo Lindstein
I would agree with this since his hockey sense is top notch. He has the ability to produce more offense but conversely, it’s pretty clear his default setting is to play it safe. He’ll need to really focus on developing that part of his game if he wants to produce more points. But even if he remains very safe d-man, he’s still going to rack up plenty of secondary assists s his outlets are very good and he’s excellent at finding the open man. Won’t be a ton of sexy plays but he plays the game in a way that leads to his team scoring more when he’s out there than being scored against.Bluesfan1978 wrote: ↑23 Apr 2025 14:20 pmGlad to hear the updates. It’s hard to say any 17-18 year old d-man is fully NHL ready from a defensive standpoint but I will say that going into that draft, he was by far the best from a defensive standpoint. His hockey sense, outlets, gap control…all exquisite. Above average skater too.smilinjoefission wrote: ↑23 Apr 2025 14:14 pm The word was his defensive game was NHL ready on draft day, just the rest of him wasn't.
But yeah, he’s 6’0” and was 180ish lbs when drafted so obviously needs some more time. He’s probably closer to 190 lbs now. Hoping to see him in the AHL next season.

Re: Theo Lindstein
For example he's not getting as much ice time right now because this guy on the other team decided to score a hat trick and they're down 4-1 after 2 trying to catch up

Lindstein's ice time drops on his team because they have more attacking offensive dman options like Charles Eduard D'Astous who I wonder if he will come over to the NHL he is their #1 and has a lot of offensive pop & sandpaper.

During the last WJC I read where his weight was in the low 190’s as he was trying to get stronger to better handle professional hockey.STL fan in MN wrote: ↑23 Apr 2025 14:29 pmIt’s hard to say any 17-18 year old d-man is fully NHL ready from a defensive standpoint but I will say that going into that draft, he was by far the best from a defensive standpoint. In an article the athletic released Jan 4 2025 it said he was 192 lbs and had put on a lot of muscle the previous offseason.

6th most D minutes is weird way to say least minutes of defenseman.seattleblue wrote: ↑12 Apr 2025 10:45 am Blues best defensive prospect just advanced to the SHL final in 5 games over Sandin-Pelikka's team.
