Never showed up and kept looking around for the next time he was going to get hit.
Grow a pair buddy, it’s the playoffs!
Need to get two in the Lou!!
LGB’s!!!
I thought the same thing. He got his bell rung and he disappeared.
This said, the entire team disappeared again in the third period. So, he's not the only person to blame. At the beginning of the third period, every player other than Binnington placed their heads firmly.up their (bleep) and look terrible.
I'll tell you I'm half surprised he got back on the ice.
That hit wasn't too far from the Backes smash several years ago which Backes did not come back from.

I agree with you, it was a very solid, but clean hit.
The hit honestly impressed me. And it accomplished exactly what it was intended for. After Kyrou's bell got rung, he wasn't the same player for the rest of the night. I hope that he shakes it off and his head is back in the game this Thursday. We need him.
A lot of folks seem in this thread seem to imply that Kyrou after the hit was 100% physically healthy, but suddenly just "tentative". I mean, the dude got freaking rocked, there's was no way he was completely unscathed by that hit. He looked like a different player after that because he was physically a couple notches down from where he was before the hit. Lotta tough guys on here acting if they would have simply hopped up off the ice, grabbed the puck and scored a couple goals
Also - Monty said it after the game. The difference in this series has been that their star players have made plays and ours haven't. I"m looking squarely at Thomas and Buchnevich--particularly Buchnevich--if I'm going to point the finger at anyone. One goal in 22 playoff career playoff games. And no one rocked him, He's just straight up not having an impact on the game. Scheiffle and Connor are.

Agreed that buchnevich is quickly becoming a playoff non-performer. [fork] your [nonsense] pts, we need goals.
Funny how when Thomas and Parayko struggle, they must be hurt. When Kyrou struggles after a huge hit, he’s not our type of player, he sucks. Real problem is Schenn, chasing hits instead of offense.

Thomas stunk way worse than Kyrou. Just awful all game long. Bad passes, passing up a slot shot for a drop pass, giveaways and generally poor decisions. And he got a -2 for his efforts.
Could not disagree more. Thomas was the only player on the Blues able to maneuver the puck and stick handle into the zone. He played pretty well considering the amount of attention he got from the defense.
Kyrou completely disappeared after he got his clock cleaned.
At least someone gets it. Thomas is not the problem. Like Thomas, Holloway is the only player on the team that always wants the puck on his stick and has the talent to gain entry and make a play. Holloways absence is repeated daily because he has already become a team pillar right next to Thomas.
It would be great to see the Blues make a hockey trade and move on from Kyrou. Hit or no hit he has been disappointing. His chemistry with Holloway is his only saving grace at this point. Kyrou needs Holloway, Not the other way around.
If the Blues offered up Kyrou, every team in the league would want him. As far as Kyrou vs. Holloway, neither has had as good a year without the other, but Kyrou was excellent in Game 1 when 81 wasn't out there. The fact that Kyrou and Holloway are so symbiotic is an argument for keeping both of them, not trading one of them. For most of the year, Kyrou has been the best player (non-goalie anyway) on the team.

The answer is the team doesn't have any perceived or not "protection" for Thomas or Kyrou.
They're fair game.
Who's going to stand up for them, Walker and Schenn?
Seabrook leveled Backes and no one on that team did a thing in that series.
Who on the Blues is going to respond to the Kyrou hit?
From a purely roster construction they are in a good place with Kyrou. He can stay on the roster or they can trade him before July 1 (before his control kicks in), and now if they trade him he's genuinely an appealing trade target for someone.
If they move Kyrou IMO they MUST MUST MUST translate that trade value into upgrading the performance we are getting from Faulk at RD. Like I said before it's adequate but adequate is not Cupworthy.
I do believe in a world where subtracting Kyrou up front is survived with the rest of the emerging forwards, and we will be ok on the wing. Sign a sturdy 3C and move Kyrou in a deal for a young blue chip RD is one viable route. In the past this would have been a no brainer because I didn't like Kyrou but I also thought he wouldn't return enough value. Now he has played his way into where I'd be happy to keep him. By suggesting moving him it's really a product of his no trade clause kicking in July 1 and Armstrong being able to move him to any team without him vetoing it, not picking on his play.

Thomas and Parayko both have had very recent injuries and it makes perfect sense they may not be 100% yet.
Kyrou is surely banged up, basically everyone is at this point, but we aren't aware of any notable injuries he's had. I don't think he's not our type of player and I definitely don't think he sucks - I'm just explaining why the explanation doesn't fly there.
The Schenn thing - yeah, I think it's still a side effect of the Holloway thing. We had two lines rocking offensively and without Holly, the second line has all but disappeared. So I imagine Schenn is trying to find other ways to make an impact. I understand it but that doesn't mean I have to like it!

That’s fair. Before game 1 Thomas told Monty he was good to go. Therefore in my book, no excuses. Everybody is banged up this time of year. If 55 isn’t right he shouldn’t be out there. We won 12 straight without him.

Who would take 55's ice time against the best team in the league in the playoffs?

Thomas missed a practice prior to playoffs after leaving the last game of the season early. He is missing from today’s practice and has been observed limping in the dressing room. I’d say he’s not 100% and is probably a bit more than just bumps or bruise’s.
I wonder how many of you have played with a separated shoulder, a intercostal ligament tear, or a cracked rib. Who knows why any player avoids a hit but from my experience it is so that they can live to play another day.
