now....everyone respond with
"Way to go Mo and Oli"
Hypocrisy is on the line here
Way to go Mo for finally being smart and realizing that Siani was a waste of a roster spot. I was saying it in the off season and all season and Mo is slow but he finally caught on. If it just didn't take him a month or two to realize obvious things he would be okay. Now if he would just wake up on Burly but that might take him a couple of more months
Honestly, at least siani they are content to leave as 26th man on bench and not use often. And it orevents them from having to use noot in cf on winn days off. On the other hand, burleson doesnt bring speed or defense for pinch runnjng or pinch hitting but will steal at bats from gorman and saggese. At least siani wasnt gonna steal at bats.
Theres no reason to carry 3 1b when our backup catchers and donovan can all backup 1b anyways.
Oh I’m not debating that. It should have been burly but I knew that wasn’t going to happen so I was hoping it would be Siani he isn’t necessary never was. I don’t know why people think the 26th man should be useless and just there. But I don’t understand why they want a slow DH out machine who only hits singles as the 5th place hitter either
Its not that siani is super necessary- but itnisnt necessary to spljt at bats and playing time between 13 players as it just prevents guys from getting wveryday at bats- so having a defensive speciliast/pinch runner that you dont have to give at bats too cam be more useful than having a guy who is just blocking other bats from getting more regular at bats.
The only way you need 13 bats(or 12 bats plus backup catcher) is if you have several guys you wish to platoon only vs righties and then use the bench guys as platoon vs lefty options.

Could just be temporary due to Donovan being hurt
Slightly surprised by the move regardless of BD's ouch. It was likely between Baker and Siani
once Saggese was picked to stay.
Baker gets in nobodies way just like Siani did. The backup CF now is in Memphis and
Saggese provides a backup to SS plus the RH alternative to the LHers. Donovan being able to play LF keeps 2B crowd about the same.
Might not see much more of Pages at 2B.

So you think it was dumb to keep Saggese and send Siani down. I just disagree with some peoples logic that the 26th man should be a virtually useless guy

No i think burleson should go down cuz he adds nothing. Saggese is a backup ss and we also need nore than 1 backup infielder for 3b ss and 2b cuz of situations where we had to play pages at 2b. Saggese is alsoa rh bat when gorman and donovan are left handed(and noot if you instead move donovan to lf vs lefthanders to get saggese in) although i dont think saggese should be limited to just a platoon role.
But with the dh. Having another bat just sit on the bench does nothing as pinch hitting isnt as necessary every game. Thus i dont like carrying another guy who eill do nothing but sit and have no purpose or steal at bats from someone who shoud be getting regular at bats. I like ustilizing specialized roles- defense replacement- pinch runner etc.
And right handed hitters can also be nice on bench if you have starters that need to sit vs lefties. But otherwise, having more lefthanded bats on the bench serves no purpose. Cuz as you see gorman already doesnt get regulsr at bats. So i would see every at bat that would go to a lefthanded bench player as a bat that could have gone to a regular starter or better player but we feel obligated to get those guys at bats too.
Thus burleson should go. Hes hitting worse than the starters. Give him regular at bats in minors. At least baker kinda serves a purpose as righty. But burleson splits pientoo much from guys who are more deserving.
