Sadly this franchise is a marketing company that owns a baseball team and nothing more
They’re doing a bang up job with their target audience……driving away your customer in record numbers from Cards Baseball in St. Louis is quite the accomplishment

Then move the old guys with value like Gray Helsley Fedde Contreras Areanado (now that he has shown he can still hit) and get a young higher upside youngster

Facts tonight’s starters
1b 33yr old
SS 28
3b 35
OF 27
P 33

Over half the starter are mid 30’s…..late 20’s ::crazya:: ::crazya::
Acting like you don't know why there is a 33 year old at first base is really stupid. Acting like you don't know why a 33 year old pitcher got the start is really stupid. Acting like you don't know that Arenado is 34 and why he got the start is really dumb.

The willful ignorance you have to utilize to end up with this excessively dumb(and repetitious - as you were asking "what youth?" for months before the season started) take is all on you.

Where in my statement am I acting like I don’t know what you claim    ?
You’re probably too stupid to understand……
But my point was this isn’t a “youthful starting squad just trying to learn how to win”
Not that I don’t know WHY it isn’t a Youthful Squad
I sometimes wonder if English is the primary language for some of you……
It doesn’t really matter why the old farts are starting the point is that they are……
So if the org, media, announcers really want to claim the starting 9 is just youth having fun……then don’t start a 33, 33, 35, 28, 27 yr old players have youth as the reason they don’t “know how to win”

Again, you are acting like you don't know - when you do know.

Hrabowsky's attempted justification is the typical moose drool one can expect from such an inept organization. Could have said the same after first home stand. After beating Astro's.

But no, wait till 4-5 game losing streak which in someone one brain cell thinks it will have greater meaning. IF fans did not watch the games maybe 10% chance of accepting the excuses.

Were there young Cardinals on the field? Oh right, there were... just not enough for your liking. Definitely sounds like a you problem, much like listening to anything the announcers say that isn't play-by-play.

The 1985 Cardinals had a younger starting team than in 2025……won over 100 games and went to the WS……
This narrative that 23, 24, 25, 26 yr old players can’t perform at a high level is laughable.

Maybe the game is a little more complicated now, and it takes players a little longer to develop than 40 years ago. Especially with more types of pitches.

Think real hard about the plate discipline and swings of this list in contrast to the grip and rip swinging out their shoes of today. It’s about talent and approach at the plate

Player. Avg. K’s
Boggs .368 61
McGee .353. 86
Brett. .335. 49
Mattingly. .324. 41
Guerrero .320. 68
Raines. .320. 60
Gwynn .317. 33
Henderson. .314. 65

You can’t convince me that this list couldn’t hit .300 or better today

Sure, guys who are HOFers would hit well today.
But for the average major leaguers who are dealing with 4 seamers, 2 seamers, cutters, sliders, curves, change ups, etc. it may take a little more time to settle in. Especially if major league pitchers can throw all of those pitches with control in all counts.

See the SP on the mound today for Birds…..with his 7.42 ERA. Are we the only team who can’t find these 100mph wizards who can throw the ball wherever they want it??

That fact that you started a(nother) thread with this same theme complaining about a 33 year old 1B, 33 year old pitcher, and a 3B, who's age you can't get right, playing in games.

Again, you are acting like you don't know - when you do know.

My comprehension is just fine. Your willful ignorance... not so much.
So how many late 20’s mid 30’s players must be starting for the announcers to stop commenting “these young Cardinals are learning to win”

The guy we face today about the same. The real bud is who lasts longer. Two number fives going at it. Look for a no hitter.

Some of you overlook the fact that Gray, Arenado and Contreras all have NTC’s and all 3 invoked them. Both Fedde and Helsley will have more value closer to the deadline as they prove 2024 was not an outlier.

They were never going to be in the Soto sweepstakes. Finally, they decided no more Dexter Fowler type signings. They were going to ride with Winn, Walker, Gorman, Scott, Burleson, Pages, etc.
