Marmol ejected

I used to know a guy who umpired minor league baseball. Got as high as AA. He told me sometimes the manager would tell the umpires prior to a game that he was going to get ejected in an attempt to fire up his team and to let the umpires know it wasn't personal.

I'm not asserting Marmol told the umpires prior to the game but it did look like he got ejected on purpose.

That guy was interesting to talk to. Lots of stories.

Nope. The umpire ejected Marmol for poor decision making. He was the one guy in the stadium who could do something about it.

There’s a guy online that makes these videos(for the life of I can’t remember his name) primarily of player/manager ejections where he is pretty good at reading lips and deciphering what the player/coach and the umpire was saying during the altercation. He posted one last year with Shildt after a padre player backwards K’d. And you can see him basically saying “I just came out here to get ejected” and didn’t even have any interest in arguing the call. they both gave eachother a nod and then the ump tossed him. And Shildt kind of acted out an angry response
