Dewitt is the one who kept Mo on well past his expiration date
Dewitt is the one who passed on T. Francona when TLR retired
Dewitt is the one who okayed hiring three clowns as Managers
Dewitt is the one who has okayed and signed the checks for Mo's idiotic FA signings and extensions
The problem is BDWJR
He could've put an end to Mo's reign of ineptitude long ago and didn't, content to let him do his thing as long as he drew 3+M.
Well the Rolls Royce has been driven over the cliff.
Unless C. Bloom can find the next Whitey or TLR to turn this sinking ship around, your $2.5B asset is going to start shrinking.

Yes, the last 2 seasons have been short of the mark.
2018 - 2022 they rode Waino and Yadi (even Albert on his return).
Once they were all gone, the team collapsed.
Mo and Oli should've both been fired after 2023.
Dewitt is the problem and you know it, he could've stepped in long before this collapse and fired Mo & Oli.
He failed to act, he's now paying the price.
Enjoy those 15,000-20,000 crowds if he keep sleeping on the job.![]()

No cranny, it's not.
BDWJr will have to increase payroll back to the $180M level or he'll never see 3+M again, may not even see 2.5M.
If he's not willing to do so, then it's time to sell before he turns the Cardinals into the Pirates.

As soon as the developmental program is in place and working, expenses will increase as hopefully revenue increases. Depends on how well the young guys do, the cable contract, the hoped for increase in attendance, and what happens with the collective bargaining agreement.rockondlouie wrote: ↑21 Apr 2025 10:53 am"Remain calm...........all is well"!Cranny wrote: ↑21 Apr 2025 10:49 amExpenses will be kept in line with revenues, until the better development kicks in and crowds increase. You say it depends on four areas, all diverse and all in related to one plan. In fact it’s so broad and generalized it could pass for a mission statement .Cranny wrote: ↑21 Apr 2025 10:57 amAs soon as the developmental program is in place and working, expenses will increase as hopefully revenue increases. Unless he and C. Bloom bring in the right Manager and Dewitt gives Bloom the same $180M payroll he gave Mo , then he's not going to break this declining attendance cycle as the team will continue to flounder.
I see little down below that going to make this team a contender for years.
Bill's operating with a 1990's/early 2000's mind set (although removing Mo for Bloom is a solid move in the right direction, next comes replacing Oli), the game has changed and it takes a solid monetary commitment from ownership to compete and draw crowds.

Sell. If I’m his age I set the family up for decades. But realistically I’d ask- why is revenue down. One hand feeds the other. He wants attendance to come back FIRST, then BDWJr will up payroll.
Business doesn't work that way.
You have to spend first and build up the product, then the customers will come.
Give Cardinals fans a quality on field product (re: players), a competent POBO plus Field Manager and you'll draw 3+M.
Pretty simple, can't believe they can't see it.

Just another excuse BDWJr will use to go cheap again in 2026.
If he does cranny and also brings back Oli, then I'm cutting down to two season tickets from four and I can promise you I won't be alone.
He'd be lucky to draw 1.8M if he keeps the payroll under $150M.

None as per the revenue you speak of. The strike is an industry risk that needs no planning for 1.5 years out. There is already a chapter in the Cardinals Way that addresses strikes- It’s titled Strikes.
