Who has passed the reset so far.
Good morning.
A reset. Three years. Phase one- get rid of old contracts. We got rid of one. Need to rid Mik and Matz still to complete phase one.
Phase two. Let kids play in 2025. Cut the fat in off season. Add one stud. Play 2026.
Phase three. Cut the fat. Add two studs. Compete in 2027.
Now. Back to phase one, the 2025 season. Who is passing the test.
So far, Donovan- they call me mello yellow., Scott, Pallante, Libby, Gray, Saggese.
Not passing the test. Walker. Winn. Fernandez. Burleson. Siani.
These who do not pass the performance test are subject to trade.
Phase one currently in action.
Enjoy.

Re: Who has passed the reset so far.
Those that cannot perform will bring back others who cannot perform in any trade made .....
Re: Who has passed the reset so far.
Agree with your plan but in phase one what about Arenado. Would free up some contract space but more importantly allow younger player opportunity at 3rd and alleviate log jam.sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑21 Apr 2025 09:21 am Good morning.

I also think you mentioning Winn in trade is a good idea especially if can show back is not a chronic problem. I suspect this is not a popular idea.

Sounds ok.sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑21 Apr 2025 09:21 am Good morning.

I would only disagree on Winn.
He had an awful ST and slow start but was coming around when he got hurt.
Based on his breakout 2024 I think his leash is pretty long.

How has Argo passed the test? To me the Cards are still searching for at least 2 OFers

Good input. Winn will probably be fine and a keeper. I hope so. Walker gives me great concern reference ever blossoming.Jatalk wrote: ↑21 Apr 2025 09:28 amAgree with your plan but in phase one what about Arenado. To Nolan. Yes a trade there is optimal but he’s earning his contract so it don’t hurt much. He will be gone by competition year, and maybe one of the three new studs will be a third basemen pitcher and outfielder.

The plan is two years of assessment, trading, etc- 2025 and 2026. This off season, we add our first stud. We have saved money for this.
The first stud must be a pitcher or outfielder because Nado will be here.
The second year we add two studs. One a pitcher/outfielder, and one a third baseman.

But my question still stands about Argo

Re: Who has passed the reset so far.
I see the reset as a three year adventure. Allows new personnel to gain their footing. I see it as a very slow process of development followed by critical asssess. The performance part takes a season. Followed by another rounds of cuts and an addition. Then performance season two- 2026, followed by adding the final pieces in that off season.scoutyjones2 wrote: ↑21 Apr 2025 09:49 amI guess I missed the 2 year plan.sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑21 Apr 2025 09:44 amscoutyjones2 wrote: ↑21 Apr 2025 09:31 am How has Argo passed the test? I feel we are attempting to truly compete in 2027. Till then it will be a bunch of silly threads just like this one.

Re: Who has passed the reset so far.
I'm not sure it's been long enough to say who's passed or failed--even on a short basis. We're still in the part of the season where one hot/cold snap will really affect numbers on the back of a baseball card.
Walker started nicely, but he's cooled off. I don't think we know yet which to believe. Either way, there are guys being drafted this year who'll be older than him. Likewise, Saggese. I like him, and I think he's done a good job, but he's a few days of 0-fers away from looking like he needs to go back to Memphis.

This team plays how many 3B out of position, yet they will need a 3b? Then add that to 85 mil for catcher you didnt want to catch, now playing a new position with currently about the lowest OPS on the roster, that is a Mo roster....

You are right. Very early. But all tests come and go some early to establish the baseline. I agree too early to write most off.Strummer Jones wrote: ↑21 Apr 2025 09:54 am I'm not sure it's been long enough to say who's passed or failed--even on a short basis. If nado is here, he plays and will bring stellar defense at third. I don’t think that is crippling.Clubmaker2 wrote: ↑21 Apr 2025 09:57 am This team plays how many 3B out of position, yet they will need a 3b? Gorman has no home. DH. He plays to keep him happy. Not a starter.
As for Willy. He should hit. 12.5 percent into the season.

Noot
Hererra
Pages (solid backup catcher)

Whether or not NA, WC, SG, are crippling or not isn't and wasn't ever the subject.sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑21 Apr 2025 10:01 amIf nado is here, he plays and will bring stellar defense at third. The Cards approached those players with a mixture of wanting to cut payroll. Providing openings
for more playing time to a couple players, and if we care to give them this acknowledgement, allow for veteran players to join a team
that is trying to be in contention. A decent gesture if true.
Thus far, absolutely none of that has occurred with the exception that maybe the losing is motivational
to the veterans who may want to be on a more successful team.
Arenado and Gray are producing at this early stage. The teams that NA may want to go to are getting poor production
from their 3B in Phils, NYY, Houston??, and LAD along with being in solid competition. Pitching is always needed so Gray
just needs to maintain. This might be creating a perfect storm for the reset to actually occur, since IMO, it hasn't started. Phase one
hasn't began except for a little PT for a few players.
More than anything else on the team, SG, NA, need to continue to produce and be as much of a shiny bright
desired player as possible. To lesser degrees, WC, Matz, Fedde and Hels producing would be of great benefit
of getting out of phase one and into phase 2. If attrition is the only way the team takes those steps forward,
Goldy, then Miles and Matz contracts ending, then are the Cardinals actually participating in any reset?

Yes if we were forced to draw the line today, I wonder how difficult it would be to keep it a straight line.rockondlouie wrote: ↑21 Apr 2025 10:50 am I'll add to your list BDog (only concentrating on the young players):

Your additions are solid.
