When everybody is back, what's your lineup?
I know they want Walker and Gorman to play. But Saggese is a fine defensive 2B, in addition to being a competitive, productive hitter. With decent splits vs RHP and LHP. Marmol will have some tough decisions to make. Including DH. Somebody may get sent down to Memphis. Could a trade for pitching be in the works?

LF Nootbaar
DH Herrera
2B Donovan
3B Arenado
1B Contreras
RF Walker
SS Winn
C Pages / Pozo
CF Scott II
That's a "starting lineup" but I think you could fit Saggese in 3 out of 4 days based on days off to Herrera, Contreras, Nootbaar/Walker/Scott (Donovan playing an OF spot), Arenado, or Winn.

Yep, like you suggest, Saggese' versatility may come into play.imadangman wrote: ↑20 Apr 2025 17:18 pm LF Nootbaar

Re: When everybody is back, what's your lineup?
1b Willy
2b Donny
3b Nado
SS winn
Lf Noot
Cf scott
Rf walker
C herrera pages
DH saggese / Herrera
Gorman gets a spot start at 2b DH, and 3b.
I've got no room for the big B brothers.

Re: When everybody is back, what's your lineup?
So you doubt that Saggese is a fine defensive 2B? By the way, what do you think of Burleson as a defensive 1B?NYCardsFan wrote: ↑20 Apr 2025 17:22 pmReminds me of when you told us Burleson was a “fine defensive outfielder” with “good speed.”
Re: When everybody is back, what's your lineup?
Any trade is unlikely to happen until the deadline.
Trading for pitching does make but WHO do you trade?
Donovan, Winn, and Noot would probably bring back the most value.
A little early to put value on Herrera.
Also Scott or Saggese.
Right now you would be selling low on Walker, Gorman, and Burleson.
Way too early to speculate on deals.

Re: When everybody is back, what's your lineup?
I get that Pages is better defensively and has had some big hits, but I’d put Herrera back behind the plate for my regular lineup.
Noot
Contreras
Donovan
Arenado

Gorman
Saggesse

Re: When everybody is back, what's your lineup?
So do you have Saggese at SS instead of Winn? And is Gorman your DH?
Re: When everybody is back, what's your lineup?
Does it matter what the lineup is? No matter who is on the field or on the bench they will not score enough overcome MO’s roster and Oli’s managing. The players know those two suck.

Noot LF

Walker RF
Winn SS

Saggese playing a lot of 2B SS

Burly
Baker or Siani one of them gets sent down

Re: When everybody is back, what's your lineup?
If the goal is to use 2025 to make decisions for 2026 and belong, nothing has changed other than the fact Saggese should get more time and Mootbaar less.
Against RH starting pitchers:
Scott - CF
Winn - SS
Donovan - LF
Contreras -1B
Burleson - DH
Saggese - 2B
Gorman - 3B
Pages/Herrera - C
Walker - RF
Bench:
Arenado
Mootbaar
Siani
Note: N/A and Moot could start against LH pitching until each is traded.
Easy.
Obvious.
Correct.

Re: When everybody is back, what's your lineup?
C - Herrera
1B - Contreras
2B - Gorman
3B - Arenado
SS - Winn
LF - Nootbar
CF - Scott
RF - Walker
DH - Burleson/Gorman/ Baker
Bench - Baker, Fermin, Antico
Donny plays 6 games outta 7 doing what he does.
This is the lineup that is left alone and see what they have. ( The reboot ) Siani can go to Memphis and play every day. Let him learn to hit there. Koeperniak needs to stay in Memphis and play everyday. Same with Saggese.
Come July if Burleson and Gorman still aren't hitting dfa, release or send to Peoria.

I don't have to guess, surmise, wonder, or doubt.Shady wrote: ↑20 Apr 2025 17:24 pmSo you doubt that Saggese is a fine defensive 2B? There are a plethora of defensive data points which will tell us definitively whether someone is average, above average, or below average defensively.
Of course, the greater the sample size, the more accurate the statistic.
