I have felt like he finds himself in a lot of 2 strike counts. And it turns out that’s correct.
In 73 PAs, this season, Walker has been in a 2 strike count in 48 of them. That is 66% of his PAs that have 2 strikes.
Compare that to other Cardinals
Walker: 48 of 73 (66%)
Nootbaar: 49 of 87 (56%)
Arenado: 32 of 78 (44%)
Donovan: 38 of 81 (47%)
Burleson: 26 of 61 (43%)
Contreras: 48 of 78 (62%)
Pages: 22 of 45 (49%)
Winn: 37 of 51 (73%)
Scott: 33 of 69 (48%)
Avg MLB: 11260 of 21193 (53%)
Now in his first 2 years Walker’s 2 strike % was 49% (315 of 643). Last year Winn was 54% and Contreras was 57%, slightly up from 2023’s 52%.

Re: Walker with 2 strikes
Interesting that though his 2 strike % is higher, he has a.239 BA compared to barely over .200 last year.
This is anecdotal but sure seems like he chases bad pitches less so far this year.
Brant Brown has helped him apparently.

Re: Walker with 2 strikes
Has he though? OPS is at .645. Over the last 37 PAs, he has 0 BB-14 K’s with a .432 OPS.
Hope he heats up again soon. He had a really nice first 9 games and over the last 10 games has been pretty awful.

And he's stepping out when he gets that 2 strikes, taking his time out to slow things down and gather himself.

My eyes say he has difficulty, as most everyone does, when he gets to 2 strikes.
His moments of bad balance increases when he attempts to cover more plate in my flawed eye test.
How much chase and what effect on barrel rates happen at the 2 strike mark?
BB rate with 2 strikes.
Re: Walker with 2 strikes
Work in progress with JW.
This new approach is harder to commit to when success rates drop.
His weight, butt, moving toward the 3B dugout the last week or so, IMO

I am impatient. I expect JW to be doing some slugging...not digging the 84 OPS+
Bumbles makes me vomit.
