The absolute-beyond-all-doubt-without-question most crucial factor is an early lead. It's Utah's last game of the year and their 3rd game in 4 nights including, as others mentioned, the 2nd of a back-to-back.
You get an early lead and especially if you can build on it, there's no way Utah is going to sacrifice life and limb as the Blues most definitely should be willing to do to try and win this game.
If we can net a couple and and they're skating like their life depends on it, there's no way Utah's going to match that intensity when all the other factors are considered.
The other side of that coin is Utah could say to themselves, we’ve got all summer to rest, let’s ruin StL’s chances just for fun
The key word there is fun. If the Blues play a boring style and let Utah skate up and down the ice unfettered, that's how it could go. If the Blues come out early and send a message that, if you're to beat us in this game, it's going to be the most difficult game of your life, would you be willing to risk your career in the final, meaningless game of a season when it's your 3rd in 4 nights if you know you're going to get crushed any time you go near their net?

Thank you.
I'm in, driving in from Chi. Section 103 LGB.
Enjoy the game, Miko! I’ll be watching down here in San Antonio. I was up in STL and went to the recent game vs Anaheim where we smoked them 7-2 at the celebration for Schenn and he scored in the first minute! Good times.

I'm worried about it too. This would be an epic collapse and embarrassment if they fall short after that run.
Not an embarrassment. These guys monumentally turned around their season. Bunch of young guys skating their butts off.
I agree with what you said but as a fan I'll be a lil embarrassed if they don't make it after that run. I talk a lot of chit throughout the season. I live in enemy territory.

No, listen, I hope you’re right and we pound on them early and often! The team has been off and Calgary has been playing Ducks and Sharks every other day, it’s hard to stay positive
OK, I've made 2 or 3 posts in different categories about how nervous I am. That's over. Now I'm going full tilt into our boys playing the best they played during the 12 game streak. No one could beat us in this game.

LET'S GO BLUES !!
That’s the spirit ! Just hit town, ready to roll. I’m down to see our boys lay down a thrashing.

And... they did exactly that. )))
(Seriously, had a feeling about this game - something about pent-up anger)
Yeah, they were smart and clearly read my post about sending a message, getting an early lead, and building on it. No need to thank me.
Drove in for this game. Only one I'll attend this year, so made it a big one. I think It was me and the guy in the next row high-fiving after each ghole that put them over the top
You and me and Hazelwood n BluesDave, we can laugh at these other timid souls, these of little faith : ooooooh, Utah's so tough - even though they'd played like five games in the last six days or whatever.

What was it about the last 3 games or our performances against Utah that would inspire such confidence? The team was clearly reeling, even last night up 4-1 but Utes on a pp, I think everyone’s cheeks clenched a bit
All’s well that ends well, but the trepidation was justified.

Oh, dude, when it was 4-1 and we'd killed our 3rd pp in less than 8 minutes and a tired Leddy, who had plenty of time and space, flipped a backhand down the ice for an icing which left our exhausted squad out there, ummmm, I launched a roll of paper towels across the room while screaming.
